re: Mary Poppins Recoups, Launches Tour in Chicago in 2009  Dec 6 2007, 11:06:09 AM
Well, the show has been making an average of $1,000,000/week so it stands to reason it cost about $50,000,000 to produce.
Ticket Alert: Wicked on Sunday  Nov 29 2007, 11:29:57 PM
Wicked has added a performance this Sunday evening at 8 pm that has lots of great tickets remaining--great opportunity to see Wicked without having to wait forever.
re: Talks Resume, but Strike Continues NY Times Sunday newspaper  Nov 18 2007, 07:22:15 PM
if literally no progress had been made, Monday's shows would already be canceled. Both sides have said they are not talking during negotiations, so I am left to believe the so-called "negotiating members" who have talked to a couple people are fakes--the real ones are still in meetings. I'm fairly confident that anything that could be stated here would have already been heard by the news agencies, which have reported nothing. Further, if the producers had been as rude as you seem to be report

I would imagine this will be settled soon. The fact that they have successfully negotiated for over 22 cumulative hours so far this weekend is encouraging--no one has walked out, so things are staying civil. It is no secret that they have many differences in opinion, but the fact that they are still talking is very encouraging. If it were a stand-still and no progress was being made, someone would've walked out.

re: How much do actors make on Broadway?  Nov 16 2007, 11:58:43 AM
It's Broadway...do you honestly think that the other 499 people trying out for the role you want (that is assuming Disney wants a new Bert, which they don't, and Gavin doesn't want to leave right now, so you are out of luck there) aren't also great actors? You don't last long around Broadway if you aren't at least good enough for lead in a high school production...do you realize how competitive it is to get ANY role on Broadway, let alone a lead?

You are in college and want your first role to be Bert in Mary Poppins? Hahaha...despite the age problem, have you ever looked at the careers of Broadway stars? Very few of them had their first roles on Broadway as leads...good luck however. Pretty sure Gavin Lee is still happy with his job, though.

At least YOU seem to know you are amazing...

re: will the strike stop shows from preforming?  Nov 16 2007, 10:59:27 AM
The shows will be back up on Monday. Now that Disney is involved, this will end quickly and soundly.
re: Talks resume 10am Saturday - New York Times  Nov 16 2007, 09:37:13 AM
they might introduce some deals if they think it necessary to get the theatregoers back in the seats.
re: Talks resume 10am Saturday - New York Times  Nov 16 2007, 09:08:43 AM
It's a tough call for them. They prefer to announce cancellations at least the day before. Talks start at 10 am Saturday. Are they sure enough that the talks will end quickly to hope the Sunday performances go on? The last thing they want to do is work down to the wire and realize at 10 pm on Saturday that they still need more time to talk, and have to cancel shows. They don't want to piss off even more tourists like they did last weekend, so I would imagine Sunday will be canceled and we a
re: League and Union Schedule a Return to the Negotiating Table  Nov 16 2007, 08:39:33 AM
Some of you guys really need lives or girlfriends, cuz this is just sad.

Whatever happened to "here's to getting Broadway back up and running!"? Apparently that regressed into a high school pissing match.

sigh...  Nov 15 2007, 01:30:47 PM
You posted useless, outdated threads. The time you spend to search threads would be better spent just answering questions.

Meetings between Local One and the League will commence this weekend--we could see the shows reopening as soon as Monday. As usual, folks on this board and in the media grossly exaggerated the strike...you would have thought Broadway would never reopen.
