Brendan Fraser and Brian J. Smith to star in Samuel D. Hunter’s GRANGEVILLE at Signature Theatre
 Jan 9 2025, 03:12:07 PM

I was interested by Brendan Fraser being cast in this, but my primary interest in seeing it is to see a new Samuel D. Hunter play. My excitement about seeing Brendan Fraser live wasn't that high, really, I guess. My hunch is that Paul Sparks may be a strong, if less market-friendly, replacement.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 12/22/24
 Dec 24 2024, 06:00:12 PM

I know that historically, the week from Christmas through New Year's Day has been one of the highest-grossing of the year on Broadway. How might that play out with Christmas and New Year's Day on Wednesdays of two different weeks. Will they both be "boffo," or each have good, but not spectacular business?

Looking at the grosses from last week, it is fun to see Maybe Happy Ending getting stronger every week...

I haven’t seen Joy Woods in this, but Shanel gave a star making performance this afternoon.

My heart sank to be seeing the matinee yesterday so soon after opening night with one of the principles out - but I have to agree that Shanel Bailey gave a star making performance as Louise yesterday afternoon. Audra was magnificent and heartbreaking, but t

Orchestra from $99, Mezz from $89, Balcony from $79. I went last weekend and I'm going back in three weeks.

I was able to use this code to get 10th row center seats for Wed. night for $129. Really excited about that - have been wanting to see this, but prices for good seats have been super high.

Happy to hear this. Hope he's doing well - and it would be great to see him acting again. His performance in YANK was one I'll never forget.

As a young man he was in Warriors film.

Since then he has been in many musicals from Once to Into The Woods to Once Upon AMattress.

I hope there is a part for him in a Warriors musical.

I was thinking this, too. Would love that.

'CATS: The Jellicle Ball' at PAC reviews
 Jul 29 2024, 01:19:37 PM

It is worth calling, as well as checking the website. I got a seat for Saturday's matinee - and the hype is justified. Loved it, as someone who's resisted ever seeing CATS over the years since its original premier in the U.S.

Any new reports from THREE HOUSES? I hope to get in to see it before it closes.

ILLINOISE Reviews
 May 1 2024, 06:05:57 PM

I love Robbie Fairchild, and his performance in ILLINOISE was excellent. I saw it twice at Bard last summer, and have to say that as wonderful as Robbie was and is - I missed Brandt Martinez in this. He brought a warmth and spirit into the show through his performance that felt galvanizing to the community it represents that I missed in his absence.

What is the Off Broadway show to see?
 Mar 27 2024, 01:28:08 PM

Was excited to see Oh, Mary!... and was disappointed. As camp as I can be, this show just wasn't as funny or sharp to me as it apparently is to so many people. Elements I could admire, but it was a soufflé that didn't rise - for me.

NY City Center Encores 2024 season: ONCE UPON A MATTRESS with Sutton Foster (adapted by Amy Sherman-Palladino), JELLY'S LAST JAM, and TITANIC
 Mar 4 2024, 10:01:49 AM

I saw yesterday's matinee closing performance and want to congratulate the Encores leadership team, director Robert O'Hara, choreographers Edgar Godineaux + Doremeshia, and the SPECTACULAR cast led by a very impressive Nicholas Christopher (wish I'd seen his Sweeney), Joaquina Kalaukango, Billy Porter, Leslie Uggams, with a flawless, extraordinary ensemble across the board. Brilliance everywhere you looked.

She said it is selling very well. She said that some people have commented on Sutton’s age and the age difference between her and Michael. That did not particularly bother me.

The five year age difference between 40-somethings Michael Urie and Sutton Foster didn't regis

APPROPRIATE Reviews
 Dec 19 2023, 10:50:41 AM

I am feeling like Rip Van Winkle while I look at purchasing tickets for Appropriate. Aren't these ticket prices surprisingly high for a play presented by a nonprofit theater? Seeing nothing in the orchestra for under $200, with almost all significantly more than that.

Am I missing it, or is there no way to know the schedule that Victoria Clark is performing now? I'd love to return and bring someone who hasn't see it with her performing, even though I'm sure the standbys are very good.

Anyone know which row in the Hudson Theatre the dress circle overhangs the orchestra? I'm striking out trying to find that information out online, so far...
