Quick Hairspray question! Jun 11

I know this isn't Tony related but its driving me crazy. In Timeless to Me, the orchestra plays the melody of La Vie en Rose after Wilbur sings his "du jour/mon amor" lyrics. However in the reprise, Edna and Wilbur have the "big affair/mein herr" lyrics and the orchestra plays a ten note melody afterwards that sounds like its sampling something else. Those are the only two parts of the song that aren't swung so I assumed they are both "famous" melodies but I just can't figure out the second one.

On the A Little Night Music OBCR, I believe there are some chairs squeaking and music turning throughout the entire recording. There's a terrific voice crack on the the OBC of Follies during Who's That Woman. On the OBCR of A Chorus Line, it sounds like someone whispers "Switch with me." right before they sing One.

Assorted Ramblings: If I recall correctly, there's a great story about Hermione Gingold's audition. You can also hear page turns on the original cast album if you listen closely enough, and the grea

I keep hearing how Cinema Italiano should be cut, but I just want to throw in my two cents. I understand how it could be cut and not change the story, but as Hudson's character makes clear in the press conference, she's only concerned with image and visuals, which is why Guido responds with his "what's on the inside" answer to her "favorite designer" question. Thus, when he's about to sleep with Stephanie or whatever, her number I suppose pushes him towards the revelation about how
