I also, understand the comment about the audience being a little hyper - which really stood out in this show that doesn't go for big production numbers to scream about. The ELEPHANT in the ROOM was the excessive ad breaks which left the LIVE aspect in the dust. Most egregious was the first of 2 airings of the Wendy's Rip-Off of the Radio Show's Boylen Sisters. The 2nd time it was shown was after the fact which would have been the only time it could have been appreciated - but certainly not before. I was happy that they didn't do the 'Together Forever' staging like they did in the Macy's Parade. Here's hoping Andrea McArdle gets an

Overrated!

I was deeply disappointed since I believe in the relevance of the subject matter, but just found it an amateurish stinker.

The staging & set are boring & confusing, the story weak & unfocused, the direction banal. Why would an actress playing a domestic scene at home ironing be rehearing all decked out in finery & in high heels? Michael Zegen, the actor playing the stage dir,  is way too young & cliched.

I went into this only knowing the songs, so what a delight to see it all in context! I had of course heard of Mack Sennett & seen Keystone Cops but never even knew that Mabel Normand was a real actress who had achieved such success or that the story is told as a memory. (Loved the way Mack could present a scene as the way he wished it could have gone - sided with the reality of saying the wrong thing.)

It is WRONG to voice negative opinion here following attendance at an invited dress, Matt Rogers. (I wasn't feeling right about saying that I felt casting a black actor for 'Fatty' Arbuckle didn't come off right - but that was an opinion that could have been derived from mere pre-show press releases.) I was bored BORED bOReD with this. It's pretentious & just downright a poorly constructed show! (I couldn't believe how many times scenes/songs/music just stop midnote & go into another with no artful transition or applause closure!) Thoughtless, unfinished results without attention to musical, choreographic or storytelling detail.

In regards to this thread & some of its previous comments, just because you win a tkt lottery doesn't mean it's free.

Reading the previous comments here shows a majority response from people who haven't even taken the time to see this play - so I don't think it is achieving as much notable biased rabble-rousing reaction as it strives for?
