Just like you "bad mouth" other things on a message board. You just disagree with this one. Sure sure. Folks hate truth when they don't agree.

BENJAMIN BUTTON musical and more set for The Public Jun 4 2026, 02:27:57 AM
schubox said: "Does the public ever extend these? I really want to see Button but the date it closes is conflicting either the dates Galileo and Inter Alia are opening with my trip and other stuff going on if it extended like a week it would all work out."
The last possible extension for Benjamin is December 13th, 3 weeks from current closing date.
It's already selling quite well and quickly.

Yes - there has never been a show that won Best Musical as its only award."
It will take orchestrations home too.

They didn't. They are all pros. They don't have a director so they had to be.
Colin is the weak link of the show and has been since NYCC. The two men replacing him will be better.

I think Whitney might have had it locked up since, on paper, people weren’t sure what Mantello would do with SALESMAN - turns out he had a vision and BODIED it.

You've got it wrong. I don't despise it. Most don't understand why they never fly much in Act 2. Don't be mad I see it for what it is. There are good there - it's just not a great show. The production is great technically - but could be better there too. But good try.

The problem is there ARE ways to hide these cables better - they just haven't designed the locations better in the grid and lighting instrument locations. If you are sitting close to the side, they are very visible (quite a bit from the mezzanine as well) - and the unclipping pretty obvious.
I also don't understand why they never flew much after Act I. It seems they would - even if not lit terribly well?

Matthew Scott will be great. He was brought into the Broadway cast due to his excellent Father. He performed the role in DC at the Signature Theater. He will perform the role better than Colin - both vocally and as an actor. Davis will be absolutely fantastic. These men will only help the cast as a whole - something that should have been done long ago.

No. I'm bet donors did not sell this out. They are holding seats for certain people who will pay the price general public would have or not pay at all. This isn't a good look for the ECF.

Not a chance, sadly. It’s been a hard sell downtown and I can’t imagine a commercial producer taking up the mantle. The staging is meant to uncomfortably intimate and the “true crime” genre hasn’t historically had much success (Ohio State Murders, Dead Outlaw).
While having the two Olivier Awards and a stack of NYC critics awards is a gre

IMITATION OF LIFE at The Shed (John Legend & Lynn Nottage) May 29 2026, 01:45:05 PM
... what happened ... ?
Changes are afoot at Off-Broadway's upcoming world premiere John Legend-Lynn Nottage musical Imitation of Life. Whitney White (Liberation) will now direct the production, replacing the previously announced Liesl Tommy. The production is also shifting its performance dates, and will now perform November 21, 2026-January 3, 2027 (which includes a two-week extension).
The production has not given any explanation for Tommy's departure from the production. The project originated as Tommy's brainchild, with the director pitching the idea of musicalizing Fannie Hurst's 1933 novel and bringing in Legend and Nottage to write it to Universal Theatrical Group, as she shared in 2023 when the musical's development was first made public.

IMITATION OF LIFE at The Shed (John Legend & Lynn Nottage) May 29 2026, 12:19:31 PM
ON SALE TODAY 5/29/26
IMITATION OF LIFE at The Shed
Imitation of Life is a new musical with a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, music and lyrics by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner John Legend, and directed by Tony Award nominee Whitney White.
Inspired by the 1933 best-selling novel by Fannie Hurst and the beloved 1934 and 1959 Universal films, Imitation of Life follows two single mothers, one Black and one White, as well as their daughters, who build a shared life while each strives for success and love in a society divided by race and class. Set across the vibrant backdrop of 1920s Atlantic City and 1930s New York, this new, profoundly moving musical explores themes of identity, the American dream, and what we leave for future generations.
This limited engagement marks the first major step in nurturing and developing a new American musical. Imitation of Life will be performed with a full cast and live orchestra, in a staged presentation that prioritizes the primacy of the work itself. Audiences are invited to be present at the moment an important new musical begins.
