I've seen "Mary Poppins" twice. The first time we were in the middle of the orchestra section, maybe row R or something, and it was a magical experience. The second time, I got tickets for the third row, and I found that being that close was actually NOT as good. While it was exciting to be so close to the actors, I could see the seams on the statue costumes, and the scenery was more clearly "scenery" -- it took away from the illusion somewhat.
