Thoughts on Spider-Man

Saw the matinee today. I had a really great time. I saw Julie's version last December and thought it was a mess with flashes of creativity. Hats off to the new creative team. It feels like a new show that has been paired down and the story focused in a way that really works. The beautiful stage pictures that Julie created remain. I can hear the lyrics now to the song. A big help! I am visiting from Dallas and remember seeing playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's work he did at Dallas Theater Ce...

I was there tonight also. I gotta say that this is a REALLY great play. I had no idea this play was so deep! Laugh out load funny, but some brutally honest scenes between the sisters and the father and son. I gotta a bit emotional. I never expected that. The kid who plays Eugene is fantastic. You fall in love with him in the first five minutes of the play. I don't know his name. Great shape even before the first preview.

Critics? They are still in previews. Critics would not be anywhere near that show at this point. They usally start coming five or so days b4 opening night.

I agree munk....good show yes, but I thought it was a little too simple. What did the two lovers have anything to do with the two acts, and what did Acts I and II have to do with each other. Maybe I am thinking about this to much. I wonder how different the Thief would have been if Michael Hall stayed with the role when he did it at WTF. Still a great show. Lighting is brilliant. It really made the show good.

Whoopi is down so much, because last weeks 83% was based on only three performances. She is doing just fine. Let's focus on Brooklyn. Everyone say a prayer to keep it open.
