Did anyone see Superman in Dallas yet? Any chance it will come to Broadway?
I'd rather Superman than Spider-Man. The score is one of my favorites and I'm very intrigued to know more about the new book. The pictures look pretty promising. I actually think Matt looks pretty good in the suit -- despite the slight diaper effect caused by the harness. I wish I could see the show.
Where did you find production photos?
Exactly my question. I saw the above... If that's even him.

That interview makes him sound like he has no idea what he's doing.
He is way too skinny!

Not to mention the Superman logo looks like ****!
I'll bet anything Superman sings with lots of vibrato.
The "S" logo looks like it is from the Fleischer cartoon version of SUPERMAN.
And yes, Matt is WAAAAAAAAY too skinny. That costume hangs off of him
I really like the way it fits him. I think they were going for a "look"... like they didn't want him to look like he was wearing tights so they made it a little looser, I dunno. It works for me.

IMO, it looks like the top is a size too big for him
I feel like a pedophile admiring him in his nappy.*
(*Diaper, I mean. Forgot you're mostly from the USA :P).
I'm also wondering if the harness has anything to do with why it might not be so tight? I dunno. I still think he looks good.
I think he looks great, but the material is a little too "pajama-ey" for me and I don't like how the top is all bunched and up and gathered like that. The top is not fitted properly. I am assuming the briefs are so big b/c they are probably padded and reinforced to protect his junk when being hoisted by his drawers. They do look a bit too big though.
Yes the emblem "Looks like " the Fleischer cartoon version but it isn't draw or proportioned properly so it looks like dog poo.
I think the drawers only look big to me because I'm used to Brandon Routh's low riding undies.
I dont like the arguments that Matt is "too skinny." He is very muscular and fit, he is just not bulky. He looks fit in the way contemporary men look fit. Overly muscular is the stuff of cartoons and comic books and isn't realistic for a performer that needs to be flexible and move.
It reminds me of the stuff being said about Josh Strickland in Tarzan. The creative team make the choices. Also, would you want to be the techie hoisting a bodybuilder? I think not.
I don't think he's too skinny. He's always been fit, like you said. And, I agree that weight was probably a major consideration since they have to be able to fly him.
"Also, would you want to be the techie hoisting a bodybuilder?"
Uhm. They are called counter-weights.

Sorry, Im not up my stage craft. The news story about Superman the other day showed real dudes pulling ropes to fly the anchorman. My bad.

in fairness, i think just about anyone would look ridiculous in that outfit. it works on a comic book page, but just doesn't translate well in real life.
That's because it only ever looks like comic book superman when it's done with body paint.
It's funny...just an hour ago I was on the training coming home from NYC when "Doing Good" came on my iPod and I thought about this retooling of the show. I wondered how it was going and then come here to find this thread and the links.
I see that Matt's wife Jenny Powers is playing Sydney. I'd love to hear her "You've Got Possibilities"
And Patrick Cassidy was on LOIS & CLARK...not LOUIS & CLARK.
And correct me if I'm wrong but weren't there plans to turn Max into Lex for this incarnation?
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says that Lex doesn't sing.
But, he admits, still no Lex Luthor. What gives?
A couple of things prevented that, mostly the idea that “Lex Luthor just wouldn’t sing. And making Max formidable was real attractive to me.”

Thanks for the link
The real explanation is clearly that they couldn't get rights from DC to replace any characters with real comics characters (like Max to Lex), or add any of the comics characters in. Hence cub photographer "Torchy" (Jimmy) and a barage of made-up supervillains that were once announced to be a big chunk of Superman's traditional rogue's gallery.
