REDWOOD Reviews

Well I can certainly say that idina (literally) sold my ticket. Doubt I would have seen this without her. It was an enjoyable night at the theatre. A bit repetitive -“let me climb a tree!” “No” convince them to say yes, etc. but I thought it was an ambitious concept that didn’t quite work. But I like seeing original musicals in the year of our juke box and bio pic musical year of our lord 2025.

The Jonathan Larson Project

Feb 17, 2025 — 10:10:53 PM

Saw this tonight and have to say I absolutely loved every minute. I would consider it a song cycle, it reminded me of Songs for a New World. Beautiful unheard music from Jonathan. A mix of pop, rock, theatrical, and very emotional. Also makes you think about when he wrote these songs and how absolutely relevant they are today. It’s shocking.oh and everyone was in tonight and everyone was spectacular, especially Taylor iman jones and Jason tam. Standouts.absolutely agree it is a must see for a...

They are allowed to whine about it closing if they want. You also don’t get to dictate what people talk about on the internet. telling people to shut up? Get over it!

Stillness has been cut, along with The Exchange. the quiet moment is there before woman is and now her husband comes in for a brief moment as well. thank goodness they cut the marionettes in the act 2 opener. It works much better now. beth leaves and Zoe glick were excellent choices. They were both incredible.

HERE LIES LOVE closing November 26

I'm very sad this is closing. I absolutely loved seeing such an original musical and concept on Broadway. I'm not Filipino and found the premise very interesting and I learned a lot. I would see it again if there were time.I thought Arielle was spectacular as well.

The mistake by Maria Friedman was not putting dancers in Gussie Carnegie's number. The other mistake was to hire the actresses playing Gussie and Beth. Why the production of Encores with Manuel Lin Miranda, Collin, Elizabeth, Betsy and Celia was much superior to this current production."I thought Katie Rose Clark was an absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking Beth. Beyond the thr...

LEMPICKA Pre-Broadway at LaJolla - News & Discussion Thread

RippedMan said: "I don’t think it’s that wild. She knows the theater and the landlords and likes them. Also Hadestown was struggling for a bit. So not that crazy. Also listens to the songs available on Spotify… and not awful but not a strong melody to be found. I’m still down for a very adult new musical. And maybe in context it’s amazing. Who knows."It’s mostly sung through so definitely some singing dialogue moments, but I certainly don’t find there to be a lack of melodies. It is also very...

LEMPICKA Pre-Broadway at LaJolla - News & Discussion Thread

Oh I absolutely CANT WAIT. I saw it in La Jolla and yes there are some clunky moments that I hope they’ve reworked, but overall it is powerful and moving. Eden is a star and I would love to see ximone rose as Rafaela in this again.

MERRILY will transfer next fall!

Mar 23, 2023 — 10:03:10 PM

Got 2 aisle dress circle seats today for $154 each. I was on the moment they went on sale for NYTW and still was not able to get them, so I am so excited for this.

PARADE - Rush Ticket Experiences

Mar 11, 2023 — 7:29:52 PM

I was there last Sunday and got there around 10:15 and was 8th. By the time the box office opened there were around 30 people there. We took rear orchestra for $69 and the seats were fantastic.

OHIO STATE MURDERS to close on 1/15

I'm so upset. I specifically planned my trip in late January to be able to see this show. I thought there was no way they would close early with such a limited run. Ugh.

Anshel2 said: "So happy that it is transferring, but it will lose something in a traditional theater. Circle in the Square or Helen Hayes would be ideal for this show. It was wonderful seeing the show in the small NYTW space. Tickets pop up every now and then for the current production. Even with the transfer, you should still try to see it in this space."I have tried every single day, multiple times a day and have never seen even one pop up. Not saying they don't, but I haven't seen it happe...

Patti LuPone gives up equity card

There are things you can do to "lose" your Equity card but most of those things could also land you in jail. I haven't studied the office directory at Equity to make sure I am right about this but is there a...

1776's Sara Porkalob Brutally Honest Vulture Article

Oct 16, 2022 — 6:30:05 PM

I've seen people on twitter saying that if you don't agree with what she said and when and how she said it, you are racist and misogynistic, among other things. This is the problem with places like twitter - there is no room for nuanced conversation. I'm sure her critiques were accurate (I haven't seen the show) and that she is an amazing performer. But anyone in any career talking like that publicly about their current employer is unprofessional and should assume they could be fired. If I po...

Or do they still hold some tickets back to be sold at regular/premium prices? Basically, when the box office opens, are all tickets sold in-person for that day at rush prices?I checked online today a few hours before the evening performance curtain and still saw a number of tickets available at about $250, which was surprising because I thou...
