Re: EVITA 2025 London Cast Recording Thread

Aug 29, 2026 — 8:28:41 AM

It seems they are using a Spanish accent for geographical locations (it’s used for Buenos Aires too) and maybe because I grew up with the OBC recording I find it jarring.Do we know yet who is coming over besides Rachel? Her voice is so different than Patti’s, but I am very much enjoying it. The actor playing Che has a pleasant voice, but it is bland and without characterization,I am questioning whether my decision to buy expensive tickets when the first went on sale.

Re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/16/26

As others have suggested, do we really need to re-litigate the direction of Ragtime in a thread about grosses? If those who want to continue the discussion ad nauseam, can I suggest starting a separate thread?

Re: Why was Bernadette Peters considered an ill fit for Gypsy?

Her sexiness was a new take on Rose and really made certain scenes — like those with Herbie — work better than in the many other productions I’ve seen. And of course she used that to spectacular effect in her Rose’s Turn performance on the Tonys. Michael Reidel really led the charge on this since Peters was out so often early in the run due to vocal issues. And she’s had vocal issues in other shows such as Sunday in the Park with George when, IIRC, they did retakes for the cast album when her...

Tbh I’d rather see a reunion concert of the original Broadway production which I greatly preferred.

Loving You: The Untold Sondheim podcast

So much potential and such a frustrating and annoying outcome. Milnes himself, the dramatic re-creations…ugh. And I just got the sense that they interviewed a lot of people who were Steve’s social friends but not actually Steve’s best friends, most of whom have sadly died. The better episodes were the ones where they interviewed people who were close with Steve for decades (Maltby, Shires, Lapine, Adam Guettel, Jamie Bernstein). And so oddly UK oriented.

Rumor: CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL to close in August?

Jul 11, 2026 — 6:55:20 AM

Probably a bad idea, but I wonder if marketing it as “ for people who hated Cats” (not in those words) could have moved the needle. As someone who hated Cats I had to be cajoled into seeing it, and I thought it was a relevation, and that has been the case in my circle of friends. But perhaps my circle is too niche.

Lincoln Center Theater 2026-2027 Season

I also wonder if she would really take a part that small. Her casting suggests that the casting here is racially conscious instead of racially blind.

Lincoln Center Theater 2026-2027 Season

Jun 26, 2026 — 7:27:39 AM

Yeah. I’m an LCT member and they are holding so many premium seats back the only seats available were the terrible seats all the way to the left and right. I spoke to LCT about it as it seems this dynamic pricing model has become the norm there especially for productions that they anticipate will sell well. It definitely undermines the benefit of membership and is different from every other non-profit I have subscribed to though I realize the entire membership concept at LCT is a different mo...
