2026 Tony Awards Performance Predictions (or What Songs They Should and Will Perform) Jun 3 2026, 05:34:03 PM
I don’t understand why more shows don’t do their opening numbers. It is the best way to introduce a musical to people who haven’t seen it.

Reimagined THE FANTASTICKS will open on Broadway this fall Jun 3 2026, 05:18:47 PM
I saw this version in Provincetown a few years ago. Hopefully with a different director and professional cast it will be significantly better.

Two questions regarding Cynthia Erivo Jun 2 2026, 07:13:14 AM

I'm joking.I'm not a 15 year old Kpop fan.I don't make signs and bring them concerts.
I'll wait until I see the show in NYC & yell that out at the penultimate moment.
I'm already researching what a19th century Italian soldier's uniform should include, and I'm about 100% certain it includes asslesschaps.
By definition, chaps are assless :)

I’m really tired of people saying that there was no direction at Ragtime.

Caps in theaters May 25 2026, 08:25:45 AM
I don’t recall baseball caps ever being an issue but tall hair and tall caps especially on tall people have been a problem on multiple occasions, especially when the hair or hat is also wide thus making it impossible to adjust my body so that I have a sightline between the heads of the people in front me. Not sure what can be done about the hair situation. Other than to find someone taller to switch seats with but that comes with its own set of problems (unless the tall person is w

Huge drop. I wonder what he is getting paid as this drop shows that he is the reason a majority of people have been seeing the show."
I continue to be amazed at what a draw he’s been. I wonder if the producers are courting other actors from the film to play adult versions of themselves, Obviously Radcl

BECKY SHAW Reviews May 17 2026, 09:03:22 AM
I didn’t like this at all so Im in the minority here. This was amusing but not nearly as funny to me as others describe. It’s not nearly as funny or as biting as the Ballusters or Fallen Angels or Eureka Day. The only performances I liked were Ehrenreich and Edmond and while Edmond’s delivery was ethe funniest aspect of the play, and I suppose she ended up as the therapist they all need, I felt like I had seen the no nonsense mother who who turns the table on the younger gen

Who Is Your One Personal MUST WIN Tony Award This Year? May 8 2026, 06:46:06 AM
After reading some predictions in the prediction thread, I realized that every time someone didn’t pick Manville for best actress I got irritated so that is the one for me. It was one of the most astonishing performances I’ve seen in my life (and I’ve been around a long time). I did think Coons and Flood gave fantastic performances and I would likely be very happy if either won had Oedipus been in a different season (though I would lean to Flood whose career would benef

BEST MUSICAL REVIVAL: should win: Jellicle Ball; will win: Ragtime
I am wondering if the love for Jellicle Ball - including from me—is overstating its odds for winning best revival. I loved both Jellicle Ball and Ragtime and agree with many who say the award should go the revival that is the most transformative and that is clearly Jellicle Ball. But would Ragtime appeal to a broader group of Tony voters (as opposed to those who post here)?

Next to Normal Broadway Transfer Fall 2026 May 7 2026, 08:11:40 AM
binau said: "Can we please get Tveit or a Dan who can sing? I know Jamie Parker has his fans, and he is probably my favourite Dan so this probably sounds contradictory (though I never saw Brian D’arcy James but I saw the others live so Spencer, Jason D, the US tour Dan etc). But I’m just sick of Jamie's horse voice now after Into the Woods. I’m just over exposed. I want a singer who can act not an actor who can ‘sing’."

For a show with very serious subject matter (bipolar disorder), it was huge hit and recouped investment in the first year it ran on Broadway. Alice Ripley gave awesome performance and won Tony award for Best Actress in Leading Role. It was when others and I discovered

2026 Tony Nomination Predictions May 3 2026, 09:33:55 AM
Ptero2 said: "Anyone think Kelli O'Hara has a shot at a nom? They love nominating her almost as much as they love not giving her the trophy. It's been 22 years since the last time she missed a nomination (for Dracula, the Musical) and the last two slots in Leading Actress in a Play feel pretty wide open."
I’ve been wondering this myself since the conventional wisdom is that Byrne is getting the nomination. I actually thought Kelli was better than Byrne

NY Times Gives Critics Pick to 18 out of 31 Shows Apr 28 2026, 07:37:59 AM
The Times has never defined what it means when it gives a Critic’s Pick.
I wouldn’t say Shaw was necessarily an outlier on Rocky Horror, but her review was the most positive of those I read.

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews Apr 26 2026, 10:04:12 AM
For me, this was just awful. I’m sure my reaction was exacerbated by the people sitting around me who, despite the signage about this being live theater, thought they were in their living room with a running commentary about what they were liking about the production. The call outs seemed sad - a few random boomers trying to relive their teen years. The score - which I do enjoy - never sounded good. Juliette Lewis’s rock and roll voice is a total mismatch with Science Fiction. And

I don’t recall a NY Times review citing as many previous credits of cast members. It’s a welcome addition IMHO (if a bit inside baseball).

THE BALUSTERS Previews Apr 19 2026, 08:40:07 AM
Saw it last night and while it was funny and overall enjoyable I agree with the posters who felt it was something has been done before (and done better particularly in Eureka Day). And I could see too many of the plot revelations a mile away. I didn’t buy some of the characters (especially the travel writer) and Kenny Leon did Kenny Leon -not a good thing.
The set was beautiful but the transitions were overdone and didn’t have the impact that I think was intended. <

Lead Actor in a Play 2026 Apr 5 2026, 09:34:25 AM
No doubt Lithgow will be nominated and he may win, but having seen it last night I thought he was very good but it wasn’t a performance that left an indelible mark on me. I doubt I’ll be thinking about it in a few months.

Master list of Broadway Backwards songs and performers? Apr 5 2026, 09:23:49 AM
This may be trickier than you think. I go every year and often there are a few performers who withdraw at the last minute. Sometimes the number is just dropped and at other times there is a replacement. The printed playbill is not a reliable source.
