I meant critically. I love Dolly Parton. But the movie is horrible.

I loved this show when I first saw it mainly because of Tommy Tune's brilliant staging. It's just a sweet little show with a lot of heart. The movie ruined it. There is a reason why the stage show was a hit a the movie a complete flop. They absolutely gutted the score. Also, having the two leads become romantically linked changed the dynamics. It didn't help that Burt Reynolds was DREADFUL! The only time the movie becomes alive is during Charles Durning brief but amazing turn as governor.

Hopefully you mean to play El Gallo because with the exception of Ben Levi Ross (maybe), they are all too old to play Matt or Lewis (Luisa) who are supposed to be 20 and 16.

The set design looks great;

I saw this in Dc and it was wonderful. What a shame both Jordan Donica and Rob McClure ( both of whom won Helen Hayes awards for their parts) will be replaced. This along with the addition of the insufferable NPH has changed this from one of the shows I was most looking forward to seeing to a show I have 0 interest in going to.

I can't think of any casting that would make me want to sit through this show again.

I find it disgusting that the two people most influential for these theatres destruction, Gerald Schoenfeld and Bernard Jacobs, now have theatres named after them. These are the two theatres that really need to be be renamed again

I saw him in many shows but his performance in "Lady in Question" is still one of the most outlandish and funny ones I have ever seen. Rest in Peace.
