I saw him in many shows but his performance in "Lady in Question" is still one of the most outlandish and funny ones I have ever seen. Rest in Peace.

CHESS Sets June 21 Closing May 27 2026, 08:26:32 PM

Shewas clearly a massivepart of Chess's early success, but the wheels came off monthsago with her still in the cast. Any replacement star has to sell not just to new audiences but to returning ones too, and that's a huge ask for a mid-tier title."
Still odd the grosses only started falling of after her vacation and the show announcing her departure though."
Did they, though? Looks like a very steady, almost linear downward trajectory to me since all the way back last year. They very obviously plummeted when Lea was out on vacation, but her departure announcement really doesn't stand out as a turning point to me.
"
Yes it does. The announcement of her departure was on 21st March. Look at the decline since then.
Chess was never going to stay at the heady heights of$2M a week and those early grosses were a shock to everyone. I always expected it to start at about $1.2- $1.3M a week, just because i knew as a long term Chess fan it was never going to befor everyone, and that is where it had settled into after the initial unexpected high numbers.
If they could have stayed there theywould have been fine which is why they went ahead and extended with JoJo.
They clearly didn't expect the drop that happened after and that drop began the week after they announced Lea was leaving and never recovered."
Maybe they went down once her limited fan base had seen the show. I saw it and while she sang the hell out of it, her acting, even while singing was sub par.

I can't think of almost any other job where "I just had an emotional breakup" would be a legitimate reason for not fulfilling your work obligation. If I were a producer, I would NEVER hire her again

His name and music must mean a lot to people since they completely ignore the fact they are celebrating the life of a pedophile.

Sergio Trujillo to direct Broadway revival of DAMN YANKEES for Spring 2027l Apr 15 2026, 09:25:19 PM
I would be upset if Donica and McClure and Umphress did not transfer. They were all excellent as were the rest of the cast. This was easily my favorite musical revival I saw this year and I'm including "Ragtime", "Cats" and "Chess".

Out of curiousity, how many other examples can we think of, of shows based on movies with songs that become attached to them, that do NOT originally have that song in the musical, and then add them in later (and it feels almost inevitable.) Shrek and Zhivago come to mi

SCHMIGADOON! Previews Apr 4 2026, 12:26:44 PM
I would love to know if they made any changes to the book between DC and NYC. I saw it at Kennedy Center (sadly because of the takeover by our rapist felon pedophile president, it may be my last time at the Kennedy Center for the foreseeable future). I enjoyed it but in the end wondered what the pojnt was. They didn't change anything. There was no reason for it to be on stage. Hopefully they did some work on the book but fear they haven't.
On a side note, I am thrilled they hav

2500 still sounds like way too big a theatre for this show. But then I personally find most touring venues too big.
