Lead Actress in a Play 2026
 Feb 15 2026, 08:55:25 AM

Manville is winning. I truly can't imagine anyone else at this point, even though there are other brilliant contenders. She was just that good in Oedipus and clearly still has all the momentum.

For the other nominees: Coon and Flood I think are in (provided the Tonys do love Liberation as much as we're anticipating). Sight unseen, going to say Edebiri gets in. I believe Squibb will stay leading and either her or Brewer will take the last spot.

Yes, leaving off Me

Spider-Man was enough to end anyone's career.

Also, if it's her final show, there will likely be longer applause breaks, plus speeches at the end. If you're planning to stay for that, you won't even be on the street by 8 p.m. most likely.

Overheard at the Theatre

I don't think it will ever top the couple in front of me at "On Your Feet" (free ticket, I got....) who about 30 seconds into the show, one turned to the other and said "maybe we shouldn't have dropped acid before this......" Honestly, watching them for the next 2 hours was way more interesting than the show.

It's built like a thrust space without having a thrust stage. The random seats on the aisle in the center section that turn inward are just insanely idiotic and incredibl

Remember "Give the Tonys back to broadway [from Hollywood]!!" 2010

It was definitely a weird year with how many Hollywood folks won (and a bit ironic that two of the "stage" stars that won, Viola Davis and Eddie Redmayne, have subsequently become much more associated with film and TV than theatre). But looking at the nominees, who else was going to win? Maybe Alfred Molina over Denzel, but Denzel was also hugely acclaimed in that performance. There was no one else in Actress in a Musical that delivered anything Tony-worthy. Jan Maxwell was the only

Was there tonight.  Show ran about 2:15, but that was with a prolonged intermission.  No doubts it will be right around 2 hours by the time it opens.

Overall, was an excellent production.  With how much acting he's done lately, it's easy to forget just how brilliant of a playwright Tracy Letts is.  Carrie Coon is phenomenal as always, and in a world where Lesley Manville didn't exist, would be the frontrunner for the Tony.  Two minor complaints that

I agree Michele will be leading, but worth noting that in 1988 they were far less likely to deviate from opening night billing, so Kuhn being leading then doesn’t really affect what they'd say now.

I'm also guessing whoever plays Janet in Rocky will end up being considered leading, so that brings us 1 shy of the requirement for

Jeremy Jordan out??
 Nov 16 2025, 12:08:29 PM

The show is the selling point, not Jordan. Yes, I'm well aware that 90% of people are buying tickets to see him, not the show. But the point is, by not putting him above the title, they're saying the show is what they're selling. Therefore, they have zero obligation to advertise when an understudy will be on and from a marketing standpoint are smart not to. That's the tradeoff--they don't get to advertise him above the title, but they also don't have to say when he'

Unless they're planning to tour Ragtime (which I don't believe is the case), then I have no idea why they would perform on the parade. The show is mostly sold out and is closing beginning of January. Why would they waste the money to perform on the parade?

Manville opens in Les Liaisons Dangereuses on 21 March at the National Theatre, so any extension wouldn't be for very long I imagine.

Plus, typically theatres need around 4-6 weeks at minimum between one show closing and the next starting performances. Rocky Horror is slated to start 6.5 weeks after the current closing date. So at most, this wo

Rocky Horror Show Revival Cast

The first preview of Rocky isn't for another 5 months. Why is everyone expecting them to announce the cast already? This isn't Audra in Gypsy. The selling point is the show, not who is starring in it. Most likely it won't be until early 2026 that they finalize the cast and announce it.
