Cabaret Closing Show Mar 30 2015, 12:38:01 AM
Definitely see where you are coming from Bilbo3. Thankfully I was blessed to see the 1998 production when I was 12 and this was what got me addicted to theater. So it holds a special place in my heart. It was great to revisit this…but as you said it was a pure museum piece. Would love to see a new production on Broadway to see what they can do with it and you are very right a few surprises here and there would have been nice. Nonetheless it was a joy to relive it.

Going to Shows Alone? Oct 30 2014, 12:59:48 PM
Very interesting post Comden Green. I go to shows alone most of the time. Mainly because I love the freedom of choosing what I want to see when I want to see. To many times my schedules do not match up with my friends and I end up catching too many shows on their last week. I will agree the only negative side of it is that sometimes you need to talk to someone about the ending or something (ie: I had to call up friends to talk about The Real Thing and Hedwig). But there is such a soothing escape

Thank You so much for all the help Play Esq. and AC126748. Funny thing, I was very neutral on seeing this until all the protest...now I am curious to see what all the fuss is about. Talk about free advertising!

hey, locals....need hotel advice for my next stay... Aug 26 2014, 12:04:44 PM
Night Hotel and Row don't have much more than the Mayfair to justify the higher cost...they can be hit or miss as far as view's go also (ie: you city view can be in the back of the hotel which is nothing great or it can be in the front which is nice.) Over the years and helping friend/family get hotels in town I feel I am an expert on the hotels in city haha. As far as good deals I advise checking Hilton.com There is a Hampton Inn on 8th Ave and 49th St. that has rooms basically the same size as

NEWSIES to close Aug. 24 Jun 24 2014, 12:41:37 PM
@TheatreKid3 I think you are exactly right. This was by all means a huge success given it was suppose to be a limited run back in Summer 2012. It amazes how time flies though. I still remember last summer how hard it was to get tickets for this show and had to enter the Lottery and Thank God I won! Seems to be a very easy rush now. I've heard from friends that it has definitely lost some steam, but still a great show nonetheless. I still remember last summer how the theater was filled with middl

Jersey Boys movie looking at a weak 12 million opening Jun 20 2014, 12:39:50 PM
Could be wrong but the way I see it is that it wont do nearly as good as Les Miz, but wont tank as bad as Rock of Ages did (which also opened this same exact time 2 years ago). Eastwood has a following so seems it will do modestly well. Summer can be a real roulette at the box office though...some big budget flicks tank while small films like "Chef" surprise everyone at the box office.

Breaking News: AFTER MIDNIGHT to Close on Broadway in Late June Jun 15 2014, 12:27:54 PM
Wow! This news really caught me off guard....was all set to see this next month. Any idea if there is a chance it could move off Broadway (like Million Dollar Quartet did)?

Post TONYs show closings/extensions Jun 9 2014, 12:00:21 PM
Does anyone have any idea if A Rasin in the Sun or Lady Day or Violet will extend? A Rasin in the Sun definitely caught everyone by surprise with its wins last night. I think everyone saw it coming with Audra. Been tied up these months so hoping to catch up on shows towards the end of summer!

First Date rush policy Jul 8 2013, 02:57:31 PM
Actually meant to ask if anyone has heard any buzz on it? Haven't really heard anything about it. Had a friend coming to visit and I noticed they have performances on Sunday night so was considering it. If anyone can give an indicator about it (suppose to be any good?), I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Breaking News: SCANDALOUS to Close on Broadway December 9 Dec 4 2012, 08:44:56 PM
Sad to see anyone lose a job. I saw it…mainly because I thought my mother would like it while she was in town. Had the lowest expectations possible but it wasn’t THAT bad. I mean yes you would swear she put this show together 2 nights ago, but the energy of the cast was admirable and cant deny Caroloee’s talent. Only complaint I had was that I didn’t think she should have played the young aimee. Hope to see her headling a show again real soon! Roz Ryan was great and of course George Hear

Ghetto Klown Behind The Scenes on PBS Last Night Jul 14 2012, 10:46:01 AM
just wanted to see if anyone caught John Leguizamo's special on PBS last night...really good piece, reminded me why I like him so much. Always nice to see another voice for theatre out there!

Is it just me or has it turned into Survivor: Broadway Edition! Jun 28 2012, 07:56:01 AM
Couldnt agree more. I remember reading in the Times that Zarkana was really taking alot of money away from broadway last summer as well...especially since you can get the tickets at TKTS. And lets face it, spiderman is not going anywhere anytime soon. I feel Mary Poppins is the same way...just those brandname shows that will draw tourist in...has anyone found out how Harvey is doing as far as sales go? Havent heard too much about that.

Is it just me or has it turned into Survivor: Broadway Edition! Jun 27 2012, 08:04:32 AM
Wow,dont recall so many shows closing so close together in such a long time. So Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar, Priscilla, Memphis, Anything Goes, Sister Act, The Lysons... Am still shocked Jesus Christ Superstar bombed...especially with all the buzz coming from Canada...am assuming we wont be getting something from Stratford anytime soon! Kinda saw Godspell coming Actually thought Sister Act and Memphis had a longer run than expected so good for them both

OH MY GOD! I LOOOOOVED ROCK OF AGES!!!! Jun 15 2012, 10:50:49 PM
Just saw it this afternoon...first off was shocked at how much it differed from the stage show. Enjoyable nonetheless, Tom Cruise definatly steals the show. Also took notice how few people were in attendance! WIll be interesting to see its box office total this weekend.

Anything Goes Rush Lately? Jan 14 2012, 05:46:15 PM
I rushed this Tuesday before last and it was suprisinly empty! Got there at 9AM and was about 3rd in line...a huge contrast from May when I tried then at 9AM and had to give up since the line was going to 6th Ave. Seems its improved a bit...however dont know if the fact I rushed for a Tuesday made a difference.
