So problem with Vegas. No dramatic (theatrical) shows, apart from the Smith Center which you could catch the same show in your home state. Air fares gone astronomical because of surging gas prices. Hotels rooms with the horrendous resort fees are expensive, which used to be very reasonable even in the big chain hotels. The big buffets you got for a bargain 15 bucks and you ate like a king, don’t really exist anymore. So all to do is pump chips all day, great!

Since Trump has came in and alienated people with his tariffs, from having vacation in the US, especially New York, this isn’t helped by expensive hotels with resort fees and general cost of living in the US in general. I just can’t get my head around the closing date, does anyone actually benefit by this date? We all know in the fall there are two sugar rushes (Thanksgiving and Xmas week.) The theatre will be dark until the spring, it is so bizarre! Great show though, with 2 stellar performances.

Wasn’t there 3 companies on the road once? Also it played sit downs in Los Angeles and San Francisco. I imagine it sat down in Chicago, if so what theatre and how long?

This show is as cheap as chips to run, the only cheaper show to run is maybe Strangers and Oh Mary. Good example this show has toured hard in every corner of the US, the show is small and can play non equity venues the 1/2 night sit down like Newport News or Peoria etc as a Equity tour.I wish I was one of the shows backers!

Arti and James spent 3 years developing the role of Paddington, for that very reason alone they deserve a shot at the Tony. Also Paddington is a very nuanced role and isn’t just putting a bear suit on, James and Arti would be great to bring on American actors for the role to take over.

I used to find the premise of the book to be unbelievable, bordering on preposterous that a revival meeting comes to town in small part of the US in a big top, meanwhile a young girl loses her mother only to discover that a man hiding out on a run as a escaped convict believes this person to be Jesus and can reunite her with her mother, you have to really think is that story plausible in any shape or form? But then again most of America believe that Trump is the savior!

I was wondering myself if the Nederlander’s offered the Marquis and Shubert’s offered the Majestic. Bit strange why Paddington didn’t go into the St James as that is in the middle of Broadway, the Al Hirshfeld is a bit out of the way.Do you know what theatres have the fly height?

The Midtown crowd will always flock to a great show and splash dollars. Shows that are British or British based have done will, think Billy Elliot, Matilda, Kinky Boots, Six and Operation Mincemeat etc. A well thought out entertaining show will always do well on Broadway.New York needs another family show there’s only The Lion King, Aladdin and Harry Potter, so no real family show for 8 years!

TKTS or Box Office

I have always seen the most popular show Tuesday-Thursday and the less popular Friday to Sunday, then using that logic I can stroll to a window at about 3pm and get what I want, but I always have a plan B.Going to TKTs at 11am is like going to see to Statue of Liberty at 10am, that is the time every tourists in New York go.On a side note does anyone know if Darryl is still around, he was a big black guy that worked the line at TKTs, he is also one of the nicest guy you find?

Probably not while Trump is in power being duel British/American, too much risk that I get deported by ICE. But have to see how my pension works out, I need to spend it and enjoy it, or if I die the Government will get a massive slice. Thanks for the info.I am retiring soon and will get a very good pension pay off. So have time and money on my side. So looking to spend 3/4 months in the US.Looked at a couple of routes 1, San Francisco - Reno - Salt Lake City - Denver - Kansas City - New Orleans (where I will dump the car) and ha e 10 day break, where I will fly to different cities to see theatre and go where depending what’s on.Then pick up another car in Boise and drive to Yellowstone Park/Mount Rushmore not to Minneapolis...

When I come over to visit my Father who lives in Palm Springs, I am thinking of doing a theatre road trip, by which I mean drive from the West Coast to the East Coast. Want to see shows on the way, but outside the big cities theatre seems to be a bit patchy. Has anyone done anything similar?
