Theatre Road Trip

Probably not while Trump is in power being duel British/American, too much risk that I get deported by ICE. But have to see how my pension works out, I need to spend it and enjoy it, or if I die the Government will get a massive slice. So no place better to spend it in the US where I lived until I was 10, when my mother who is British got divorced to my American father.

As for Las Vegas I have been several times before, as my father lives close in Palm Springs, not desperate to go

Theatre Road Trip

Thanks for the info.

I am retiring soon and will get a very good pension pay off. So have time and money on my side. So looking to spend 3/4 months in the US.

Looked  at a couple of routes 1, San Francisco - Reno - Salt Lake City - Denver - Kansas City - New Orleans (where I will dump the car) and ha e 10 day break, where I will fly to different cities to see theatre and go where depending what’s on.

Then pick up another car in Boise and drive to Yellowsto

Theatre Road Trip

When I come over to visit my Father who lives in Palm Springs, I am thinking of doing a theatre road trip, by which I mean drive from the West Coast to the East Coast. Want to see shows on the way, but outside the big cities theatre seems to be a bit patchy. Has anyone done anything similar?

Eugene O’Neil Theatre on fire!!

Everything in the production would have been damaged and everything will need renewing. The producers have the decide whether to close the show or move theatre. Don’t know if there is a spare tour set if they decide to move? This could be the Australian or UK one if no American one isn’t available.

Will the insurance pay out the pay cheques for cast and crew?

Paddington at the Al Hirschfeld

Yeap she was one of the many producers. The production got a rave from the late Clive Barnes. Sonia’s sister Maria got raves across the board including from Ben Brantley in the NYT, although he did call the show ‘pallid’.

Will the Tony Awards renew their contract with CBS?

sinister teashop said: "The ten year contract between CBS and the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League ends this year. The Tonys have had a relationship with CBS since the 1970's but the media company hasnow become a propaganda tool of the Trump administration. Will the Tonys renew the contractfor another ten years?"

Isn’t there going to be a special Tony this year for peace, going to Trump of course.

I would love to see James Hameed and Arti Shah make their Broadway debuts, they both are great. They could also coach the other Paddingtons for when they take over fully.

2026-27 Paper Mill Playhouse

musicthatmakesmedance said: "Extremely unlikelythatMary Poppinsis a brand new production. Much more likely a replica of their 2017 production with the same physical production rental. If it were new, I'd imagine thatwould've been specified in the press release -- not to mention the mezzanine will be closed the entire season."

I hope it is.

Wasn't the recent revival of Beauty and the Beast that toured, started life at the Papermill, which w

2026-27 Paper Mill Playhouse

I gather Mary Poppins is a brand new production and therefore will be very different to the Disney/Cameron Mackintosh production, so I would also assume this production will be the one that goes on the road in 2027.

So I also wonder why Disney/Cameron Mackintosh went for a brand new production, where the one that toured the UK recently was a big financial success and would also would be if it toured the US as it is very much a beloved title both sides of the pond.

Paddington at the Al Hirschfeld

Six is very British and easily recouped, as did Billy Elliot & Matilda. War Horse was also very British and went into the black, you could argue the same for Kinky Boots.

This show is being helmed by Sonia Friedman who is the best in producing and knows the Broadway market.

This show will need to hit $2m a week which seems the soft spot for a big show to recoup, saying that if the show is good the midtown crowd will come out from the tri-states.

Deaf West Revival of Whistle Down the Wind

Wasn’t all set to go to Broadway’s Martin Beck theatre with the marquee already up, but Harold Prince’s production got panned in Washington DC try out.

Also ready in Gerald Schonefeld autobiography that it was set to go into the Shubert, but the Shubert Organization couldn’t evict Big.

Anyway this musical is the same as Chess and Aida, by what I mean it has a stunning score, but awful book!

2026-2027 Season Tour Launches

They had a late announcement a couple years back when CTG announced &Julet as a late surprise. This season I thought they do similar with The Outsiders but that went to the Pantanges instead. I thought they get Mincemeat that went to the Pantanges instead. So something like Sunset Boulevard or Chess would be great, I have always banged on about My Neighbour Totoro from London. Maybe Just in Time or Buena Vista Social Club. But unfortunately the Pantanges remorselessly hoovers everything u

Best Musical Revival

This Cats is very different to the original which won the Tony for Best Musical/Score/Book the book has been substantially rewritten so could this Cats be the first revival to win the Tony for Best Book? It would also for the first musical to win Best Book twice?

2026-2027 Season Tour Launches

Again CTG misses the mark with a wow show. This season I thought they pull a late rabbit from the hat, but didn’t happen.

Alicia Keys' Broadway Bomb — Singing Sensation's Musical 'Loses a Staggering $8Million'

Could the show pull $8m from the road, or is that unlikely?

2026-2027 Season Tour Launches

Wow Broadway in Hollywood hoovers everything up, remorselessly. I had a feeling that The Outsiders would’ve announced as a late addition for the Ahmanson, like &Juliet did, the reason for this is because their current season is appalling, so thought they pull a rabbit out of the hat - but I was very wrong. It just means that the Center Theater Group has to look harder for shows and unearth gems like Everyone is Talking About Jamie, which I loved, period. I saw it seven times.

2026-2027 Season Tour Launches

Are Ordway expecting subscriber to stump up $100’s dollars for subscription?

What happens if the Ahmanson gets a sit down, what happens with their subscription?
