Inside of me, there are two wolves:
One is very much annoyed at the fact that this is being made because shining more light on him is not helpful.
The other is intrigued because the British, historically, have a good track record of theatre that takes the piss out of public figures around the world, and even their own, so it might be a worthwhile venture.

Hated Lehman Trilogy. Could not imagine ever sitting through this.

I'm curious who the actors will be.

They'd have to pay ME to see this. In no world would I spend money to sit through more Trump BS, even if it is taking him to task. He already occupies far too much space.

I think any dramatization of Trump, and I think The Apprentice already proved this, is going to have an extremely difficult time portraying Trump (physically, vocally, or otherwise) in a way that’s not meant to stoke a laugh out of the audience. Trump himself is a caricature of the American/New Yorker real estate billionaire.

I recall Bertie Carvel got pretty good notices for his portrayal of Trump in The 47th a few years back. I have doubts he'd be in consideration for this, as it's presumably a substantially different sort of performance/portrayal.

I would much rather see an alternate history exploration of Hillary or Bernie being elected in 2016 a la "Man in the High Castle".

I would much rather see every single person in the Trump administration rotting in prison.

Not a chance. Sit through two hours of Trump? Hahaha. I can’t last two seconds when I see that greasy, bloated orange mug on TV or my phone.

Yeah the last thing I need to see is Trump from the perspective of the British.

I would love to see a British team adapt the Emily Mathis interview with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for the stage, but perhaps that would seem too derivative of Frost/Nixon.

Wondering if there will ever be a play based on “Nayirah Testimony” - a case that has been relevant since it happened (even before that )

Serious question: Is there a playwright whose perspective on Trump would you find appealing?
My hunch is Kushner could do justice to his terrible reign even if Trump himself was not necessarily a real character in the play.

Kushner himself mentioned in 2017 that he was working on a play about Trump (who he astutely described as being both "borderline psychotic" and "very boring") but indeed wasn't sure whether or not Trump himself would appear as a character in it

There's a reason the best plays about Hitler don't actually feature Hitler, and I think the same applies to Trump. The impact he's had on people is much more interesting than the man himself, who is so well-documented and shallowly psychotic that there's very little to actually excavate dramatically. I don't know if a Trump-centric play would be anything more than a back-patting political cartoon, when what's really needed is an exorcism in the average living room.

Wasn't it Michael Shannon who said that the biggest obstacle to playing him is that there's "no there, there"?

Not a play, but we've already had one movie and one 3 part mini series dramatising the Andrew interview and events around it. Plus the parody Prince Andrew The Musical

Personally, I’d rather see “The Stephen and Katie Miller Story”, with an all Hispanic cast.
