It is hard to believe that this highly creative production will only have 4 months under its belt while The Lost Boys will probably play forever. If Lincoln Center wants success with The Sound of Music perhaps they should consider flying nuns with an opening night appearance by Sally Field.

The Whoopi Monologues - Lincoln Center (Off-Bwy)

Jul 14, 2026 — 8:34:50 PM

I thought the production was ok. Some actors handled the material better than others. Kerry Washington gave a very focused interpretation which felt authentic while others seemed to meander in and out of the light pushing rather than inhabiting. I am sure it was much more impressive when Whoopi played all five characters. My guess is that her performance was genuine and had a strong core.

I am heart broken. I bought a ticket on the stage for a friend of mine for his birthday in September who is flying in from Puerto Rico. I thought the show would have more legs. Darn it! Crap!

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews

Jun 26, 2026 — 7:21:38 PM

I saw the show last night 6/25. The 15 minute intermission ran long like there was something going on. The second act felt bogged down and some of the dialogue delivery was clunky. Luke Evans gave a very good performance, but even he seemed a little off in act two. I thought the show itself was fine. It felt a bit like a better prepared City Center Encores production. The direction was straight forward with a lot of downstage crosses left to right which felt unoriginal and redundant. The actor...

Lincoln Center Theater 2026-2027 Season

Jun 23, 2026 — 6:10:22 PM

I think Lear gets good performances out of actors and I appreciate that as a director she avoids excess. It makes her a good story teller. She trusts the scripts and the audience’s intelligence. Her directing style has a good sense of flow about it.

A lot of theaters are going to be vacant in the coming months - any idea of what’s going where?

And Brady isn't available in the summer due to him taping LET'S MAKE A DEAL. Odds seem very slim it transfers."I doubt Billy has any more interest in the demands of Broadway. And as for Lincoln Center, word around my UWS neighborhood is that a Shakespeare play is being mounted after Ragtime close...

Silverback Mountain

Thanks for your clear response! I got the impression the house itself had the contract for all rentals but I could be mistaken. As an NYC resident I get asked about the distinction when friends come to town. Now I will have a more informed answer. Most people tend to think it has something to do with the location of the theater.

Silverback Mountain

I recently attended Silverback Mountain at the AMT theatre on west 45th. The front of the house staff were extremely friendly, and they informed me that that the theatre was an Off Broadway contracted theater with 97 seats. I always thought a theatre with a 99 or under seating capacity was Off-Off-Broadway. Was the theatre approved for Off Broadway status because the seating was close to 99 seats? On a side note, Jason Yanto was quite good and he understood the style of the play. If I were a t...

"La Cage" at City Center

Jun 20, 2026 — 5:29:27 PM

If I were cast as a lead in an Encores production months in advance, I probably would memorize the vocals with a vocal coach and get a good grip on the dialogue including some memorization before the first rehearsal. I wouldn’t be surprised if some people haven’t done that over the years. I was a little surprised with the two leads being very book dependent in High Spirits given that they are married. There are also different ways of being booked dependent and some actors handle it better tha...

"La Cage" at City Center

There have been other Encore shows where leads have carried books and it has not faced as much criticism as this production seems to be getting on this board. So it makes me think that this is more about the production in general. I was thinking of getting a ticket but now I’m not so sure. I have a feeling I might be huffing and sighing through. It.

TDF Down

As of today my account shows 2O offerings that are not in alphabetical order. None of them are Broadway offerings. I did use the search function for La Cage and a performance came up for this coming Sunday evening. I don’t understand why they made the change in the first place. The prior system was very functional and easy to work with. Very strange. I mean I did pay an annual fee for goodness sake.
