New Jennifer Nettles musical, GIULIA, will premiere in NY this fall

Jul 19, 2026 — 7:45:12 PM

i really hope this gets a hard revisit with some new directorial/creative talent because theres ALOT of good stuff here, namely one of the better new scores weve heard in a while and such a fantastic ensemble singing them. Nettles gives herself a slew of solo talk-to-the-audience barn burners and she nails each one, but they blend together after a while, and they arent necessary in a show with 20ish songs. Quentin Earl Darrington is singing absolutely bonkers perfectly, but he gets 2 or 3 wre...

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW reviews

Jul 19, 2026 — 7:32:44 PM

i look fwd to more new additions the cast so i can return, but appreciate these reports.Strange to hear that Hsu's voice isnt strong- i thought it was incredible when I saw her in May. And while i know nothing of Valentina, the role of Columbia in this production is asked to do very little, so why not have people in the role who might get tickets sold? Of course the existing understudies are better qualified but theyre trying to sell tickets, like everyone else.

There is no play on Broadway lauding and lionizing Scott Rudin or William Ivey Long as PEOPLE. Its truly astounding (and i say this as someone who recognizes MJ's musical genius)"I know we discussed this years ago but MJ literally broke its own supposed logic for not including the allegations by setting it in 199...

Same with MJ who others are saying we should boycott because of Michael Jackson, who was also long dead before this production existed. And while JK Rowling is alive, she's about uninvolved with the Harry Potter stage show as any of those others are (collecting money from it, but having nothing to do wit...

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)

ACL2006 said: "So, Meg isn't sick. She was seen at the Comedy Cellar last night. So she's been blowing off the show. Is there a possibility the producers fire her?"Im so glad someone was ignorant enough to boldly repeat this rumor based on an anonymous message elsewhere--that we now know to be plainly false and based on literally NOTHING--because its a nice reminder of how much utter nonsense gets spewed here with such conviction and authority.Kinda surprised ACL is doubling down on this stup...

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/13/26

Jul 14, 2026 — 9:09:12 PM

Yeah, I feel like most are able to recognize that it was once very popular, but that its a truly bizarre plot-less waste of time, and that without the original 80s spectacle it flops (see revival 2016, the movie, etc.). The genius of this revival was that is turned the underlying slop into something new and worthwhile (and i still struggled to care, but i know im in the minority on that). to each their own, but i think the post 1999 track record on CATS is pretty clear.

He f*cking destroyed me with his performance."Id hope they ALL reprise their roles, but i particularly hope that Francis Guinan is able to do this. I cant imagine ANYONE else I have seen on stage anywhere that would be able to combine the monstrosity with the childlike gentleness. A master class pe...

I will never ever get over that MJ continues to run on Broadway, openly celebrating Michael Jackson, and people are "boycotting" productions because Scott Rudin is/was very mean and very difficult and is involved behind the scenes. WILD!

You’re confusing quality with size and star power." Feels pretty rich for YOU to be policing the discourse, given your complete and utter obsession wit...

Rumor: CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL to close in August?

Jul 14, 2026 — 8:38:39 PM

Kad said: "ALW’s net worth is 1.2 billion. He can scrape together change from his sofas and fund a cast album instead of issuing statements about how somebody should do something."Yeah, its WILD for ALW to be complaining about the high costs of everything from his billionaire mansion. Is trying to fund a London production? A tour? Isnt the fact that neither seem likely solid evidence that this just isnt mass marketable? I think we need to do what we can to make fresh new works from young unkn...

mad respect for Andre de Shields doing this at 80--its impressive and he has a stage presence that is remarkable.but i, too, was nervous he was going to fall over most of the time he was on stage--if that was intentional acting, ok, but it was distracting. and every night, Sydney Harcourt helps him down those stairs during the curtain call, and i think thats just because hes 80.

Rumor: CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL to close in August?

its weird, the people apologizing and mea culpa-ing to quizking must be whispering, i can barely hear them? the notion that this closing has something to do with "white" audiences is so silly--i sat in a packed Black audience watching Joe Turners Come and Gone last week, and I was surrounded by people of all ethnicities and ages at Spelling Bee this weekend. CATS + drag culture is not going to appeal to mass audiences without a truly brilliant marketing campaign of some sort-and this was mark...

Josh Grisetti has passed away…

this is always tragic but he seems like he was a truly special guy with a unique voice. i am not familiar with his work, but im glad so many have posted his work and shared their sorrow, because you really do get a picture of a special person.

New Jennifer Nettles musical, GIULIA, will premiere in NY this fall

Jul 11, 2026 — 2:34:32 PM

Seems like alot of good music and great performances struggling to overcome a crappy book--weve seen this a thousand times before, so lets hope Nettles (or those around her) can fix it for future iterations. im seeing it next week, and happy to see Didi Romero and Quentin Darrington get so much praise.

Rumor: CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL to close in August?

this seems unfair to quizking, who is admittedly obsessed with this CATS revival and clearly stated that his own mind was coming up with (plausible) theories about it potentially closing. he did not pretend to have inside informationOTHER notorious liars/delusionists chimed in with predictions made out of whole cloth (EDSO, as usual), but not fair to bash quizking for thinking out loud here since he said that was what he was doing.
