Is it staged?

The original production rarely if ever had a sold-out  week and closed at a loss.  Is the success of the current revival due to Josh Groban or because audiences are more comfortable wit h the subject matter and the music?

I saw this in San Diego prior to Broadway.  I believe Bebe Neuwirth played Lola.  I thought this was poor casting because she is has a cold aspect,whereas Gwen Verdon was warm and therefore more sympathetic. The actress who played Meg was excellent and got a Tony nomination.

"Rose's Turn," especially as performed  by Patti Lupone.  I was going to say "sung," but "performed" is more accurate.

Andrew Rannells -- He always seems amazed at his own talent.

But I want to stick up for Sutton, Kelli, and Patti, who I think was the definitive Rose.

 

I think this is an odd choice for renaming inasmuch as she is not especially associated with Broadway.

First the Queen, then the Queen of the Theater.  Both nearing their centenary..

For  people who saw both Beanie and Lea, it would be interesting to compare how you rate each performance on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best.
