TheGingerBreadMan, thank you for such a thoughtful review and take on the show. It sounds wonderful.
What concerns me, though, is the fact that this is the cast they are planning on bringing to Broadway. Part of what I loved about the City Center production was seeing Jane Krakowski in peak form (when is she not in peak form?) commanding the stage as Lola. When I read that “Cox” was going to be in THE DROWSY CHAPERONR, I got excited thinking it would be Veanne Cox playing the titular character (ha). It wasn’t until later I realized it was an all trans production. I think the intention behind it is awesome and it’s for a good cause, but even for a concert, it feels ridiculously miscast.

Time For A Gypsy Revival

It’s perfectly fine we didn’t get an Imelda-led one “Gypsy” revival. The only thing that makes me upset about the current revival is that we’ll now probably never get the genius that is Donna Murphy headlining a Broadway “Gypsy.” She’d have been incandescent in the role. Regardless, I hope not too long passes between revivals, it’s the kind of show I think should be on Broadway every few years (not saying this makes sense financially,
