I just can’t think of anyone really with enough star power who’s right for the role to make a revival successful. There’s plenty of musics theater greats who I’d kill to see do it, but they won’t sell tickets.

Agree with Jordan on this point.
Kelli O'Hara I would have thought could do the role very well, however as Jordan said great Broadway names don't shift tickets.
I feel like we won't get a Broadway production anytime soon. Has any recent production made a true profit? It seemed like Bernadette Peters' production kind of showed the decreasing interest in the show and Lupone's production was created due to the fan demand and the idea of Lupone playing Rose was too good to pass up for us fans, but it wasn't necessarily a hot ticket outside of diehard Broadway fans.
I just don't think there's an actress out there that would make a new production too good to pass up.
