The Secret Garden 2016 Concert Presentation

Jan 13, 2016 — 1:26:38 PM

I saw the show on Monday night and it was amazing!!!  I had seen the original back in 1993.  Rebecca Luker hasn't lost a thing in her voice in all that time.  Incredible.  She did almost trip and fall into Archie in Act II, but made a nice little save and didn't miss a beat in her song.  I always get goose bumps when she sings.  I thought that she might not go for the higher notes, but damned if she didn't do it.

ALL the performers were excellent, the orchestra was excellent, the whole damn thing was excellent.  My least favorite song is "Lily's Eyes", but Mr. Dean and Mr. Von Essen (a great Woody Mahoney in "Finian's Rainbow"Profile for bowbridge | BroadwayWorld Message Board?format=auto&width=600 really made it something else.  There was no scenery in the show, but with music like this, it doesn't detract from the show; in fact, I could argue that it adds to it, and is better without it.  Great Stuff!!!

Ethel Merman, Barbara Cook, Rebecca Luker. 2 of these three are Broadway Legends, and give Ms. Luker 20 more years and she will be there also.

Anyone who doesn't see this revival is missing something special. The only problem with this afternoon's performance was at the very beginning when the Mute tossed El Gallo his hat and it went sailing Frisbee- like into the third row, hitting the guy sitting next to me in the head. The gentleman tossed the hat back but it landed on a

re: What Was the Biggest Monetary Flop?

OK, what do you guys define as "losing money". I assume that for all the flops listed that the actors got paid, the musicians got paid, the stagehands got paid, the ad agencies ot paid, and the theatre owners got paid. Do you mean the producers lost their investment in the show? I know Jekyll and Hyde sold a ton of CD's so is that included in the loss for the producers? I often hear "the producers" lost their entire investment...how can this be true if the show ran for even one performance?
