re: Question about Ave Q theatre Aug 29 2006, 08:49:50 PM
I saw wicked in Toronto, I loved it but I'd like to see something I haven't seen before. I already have tickets to the wedding singer for friday night, so thats our 'big show' Im going with my parents and younger sister (she's 17 though..so no worries about being to young for Ave Q.) and I wanted either wedding singer or Drowsy Chaperone, they wanted wedding singer. So that and then I'm trying to decide if we should go see ave Q as well. Thanks for all your responses!! very helpful!

Question about Ave Q theatre Aug 29 2006, 06:41:46 PM
Im thinking of going to see ave q this weekend (its my first trip to new York), but the only tickets available are in the rear mezzanine. Are those still decent tickets in the Golden theatre? any help would be appreciated! thanks

On IMDB they've added Michelle Pfieffer and Rowan Atkinson to the cast list. Michelle as Velma and no character listed so far for Rowan. Nothing on there about Billy Crystal though.

I read the Star article! It was good! I think getting picked for a callback was a combo of looks and your singing. So if you didn't get called back its not because you didn't sing well! It was fairly cold outside...(when we finaly got inside I could feel my toes thawing out because I had tiny shoes on) but Its actually a lot warmer than it had been!

Its too late to send in tapes and stuff...the official site lists the tenth as the last day to send anything in.

They weren't giving any direction to anyone at the TO readings, they were just whipping through everyone. I was kind of sad I didn't get a chance to take direction.

Hey! My callback went really well. I thought my reading could have been slightly better, just because I wasn't really sure where to focus and direct my reading, so that was floating around in my head and I wasn't concentrating like I could have, but other than that it was great. They were really nice. I got to sing more than I thought I would (21 or so bars as opposed to the 8 that were marked on the paper) which was good. I asked the girl working the desk and she said that they did

re: HaIrSpRaY THE MOVIE AUDITION STORIES Apr 9 2006, 01:58:33 AM
I was number 058. why? I heard someone singing really loudly. Whoever it was sounded good, and people shut up because it was really loud and they were listening. and then everyone clapped when she stopped cause it was like she realized everyone had been listening. But I wasn't really paying attention because I had just come back from getting my callback and was sort of flying. So it may or may not have been the girl you were talking about.

Ya..I think you were there when I got my callback. I saw them turning away a ton of guys just at the first table. And I didn't see any who got callbacks either, but I'll let you know what happens tomorow for sure!

I used my normal belt voice. I thought it might be risky to use a character voice, if it wasn't exactly what they were looking for.

re: HaIrSpRaY THE MOVIE AUDITION STORIES Apr 8 2006, 03:52:04 PM
Hey! I just got back from my Toronto audition which was so much fun, and I got a callback, I am ridiculously excited!! I know its common to wear the same thing you wore to the first audition to a callback, does that hold true even if the callback is the very next day? Congrats to everyone else who auditioned anywhere today! I hope you had as much fun as I did! Oh..and Akiva, I did see you..and meant to go say hi, but it was an inopportune moment (ie - giant line going in the wrong dire

make apointments? I don't think you actually do make appointments, you just show up. Im 90% sure. The elgin is the only stage door ive ever actually been in in TO, thats where the Ross Petty Pantomimes are every year and I've had friends in it for a few years. So I actually sort of know where Im going, which is good. I have NO sense of direction.

re: The Woman in Black (need details) Apr 5 2006, 03:30:01 PM
I saw this done at a small theatre a few years ago, they made extensive use of scrims. And because it was small she appeared in the audience sometimes...its the only play Ive seen that I was afraid I might scream out loud.... I think the cast was two guys and a non speaking woman...but there could have been more that I've just forgotten
