Im thinking of going to see ave q this weekend (its my first trip to new York), but the only tickets available are in the rear mezzanine. Are those still decent tickets in the Golden theatre?
any help would be appreciated!
thanks

Yes. The theatre isn't that big (it's one of the smaller Broadway theatres.)
They are 47$- right?
I know Avenue Q is SOMETIMES on the tkts line but that's a chance kind of thing. Also, there is a lotto but that's also a chance kind of thing- a big chance since they only give away 12 tickets and 30+ people usually try.
I've seen it 8 times- once in the rear mezzanine. Although you won't really be able to make out facial expressions, it will be well worth the 47$

Seannak~
If this is your first time to New York, don't see Avenue Q as your first Broadway experience. See Spamalot, Wicked, Drowsey Chaperone anything else other than Q. For your first time don't see people working puppets...see actors in there own character persona's. Of couse, this is my opinion. Now about mezz. seats. If it is still at the theatre I saw Avenue Q...all seats are pretty good. Again this is IMHO

Haha, Wicked was sadly my first musical.
I was pretty ticked off that it lost Best Musical and HATED Avenue Q... until I actually listened to it and saw it.
It deserved every award it got... it truly was the Best Musical of 2003.
Definitely worthy of being anybody's first Broadway show!

Eww, no Wicked or Spamalot.
Try Sweeney for your first time, you'll never forget it, and it closes Sunday.

I saw wicked in Toronto, I loved it but I'd like to see something I haven't seen before. I already have tickets to the wedding singer for friday night, so thats our 'big show' Im going with my parents and younger sister (she's 17 though..so no worries about being to young for Ave Q.) and I wanted either wedding singer or Drowsy Chaperone, they wanted wedding singer. So that and then I'm trying to decide if we should go see ave Q as well.
Thanks for all your responses!! very helpful!

Q is queen! Do see it! You won't miss anything from the seat you have.
Enjoy NYC and we all welcome you here!

Posted: 8/29/06 at 9:00pmhaha, CyCoSpAz2, that was totally my first impression of Q as well. I was all excited for Wicked to win and then came this crazy show with puppets?? But of course I was completely wrong once I saw it; it's incredibly original and very relatable, especially if you are in your younger 20s!

I sat last row rear mezz back in February and it was perfectly alright. Same as mid front mezz in larger theatres, to me.
I also sat last row mezz of the Marquis theatre (INCREDIBLY LARGER than Q's) and I was perfectly alright.
It seems to me, it doesnt matter WHERE you sit, so long as there is no obstacle blocking your view - the shows are generally theatrical enough to allow you to see everything, except if there is an unexpected tall person sitting in front ofyou or if you have an obstructed view ticket :)

Spamlot is surely one of the weakest (and most expensive, sold out) shows today.
I would recommend Avenue Q. It's quite funny and deserved the Best Musical Tony that year. (Although that's not what I thought at first.)
