Groban & Ashford in SWEENEY TODD On Broadway
 Aug 1 2023, 02:37:49 PM

I'll be in NYC for the week of Nov 14, and it shows the Groban is out that week.  Do you think there will be discounts available?  I couldn't care less about Groban, I just want to see Ashford and the show.  Thanks!

Barbra at The Garden

I'm so excited about seeing her tomorrow night in Chicago!

That setlist has a little of everything I've loved about Barbra.  Hearing "My Man" live is gonna destroy me.  hehehe, I can't wait.

It says "Direct from London" on the sign, so I really hope it is the same setlist.  I've never seen Barbra and I'm losing my cool waiting for the show.

I found seats for Chicago for $50 including fees on SeatGeek.

"The architectural renderings got screwed up and the design that went up was really intended for Skokie, Illinois."

Psssh, I live near Skokie, IL and there isn't a single building there that is as ugly as the Marriott Marquis.

That's sad. I've watched every episode so far, and I just commented to my boyfriend that this most recent episode was the first time the show made me laugh.

Too little too late, I'm afraid.

Summer in Chicago

I agree with storefronts. The Equity theatres are usually not bad, but I've seen some really amazing pieces at the smaller houses in Chicago.

I have always really enjoyed shows at American Theatre Co., Porchlight Musical Theatre, etc.

http://www.hottix.org is a great resource for last-minute 1/2 priced tickets.

Enjoy your time in the city!

Elaine Stritch at Liberty DVD question

"A sitcom about menopausal women needed an actress who had already carried a successful show and without Bea Arthur (or someone of her status) the series never would have been made. "

"Two's Company" was a big hit in the UK. Stritch carried it for four seasons. She wasn't exactly a novice when it came to TV, regardless of which side of the pond she was on.

If NBC decides to do this again next year, I have a feeling it will be The Wizard of Oz. This formula can only work with a big star and a family-friendly show that everyone in the world knows. Other R&H shows like The King and I or Oklahoma could work, as could Grease, My Fair Lady, or Mary Poppins.

Personally, I'd love to see them tackle White Christmas.

If ABC/Disney decides to get in the game, Beauty and the Beast would be perfect in this setup.

And if we're fant
