The folks in TWOP's "Competitive Reality TV" forum give us a clue as to what they (the dedicated TV Watchers of America) think of BWW/Grease/Reality Show Casting for Broadway. This from a forum member who posted prior to the first preview:

The performances fell flat for me, mainly because Lee Wilkof and Ellen Greene are etched in people's minds as Seymour and Audrey.
Bettyboy...that is exactly why I had no desire to see the Broadway version. I saw the original off-Broadway production in the small, cozy Orpheum with Lee Wilkof & Ellen Greene back in the 80's. Didn't see how a huge production in a much larger theatre would top what I had already seen (and had serious doubts that any actor could erase my memories

Colm was the only actor I ever saw performing Valjean, however, his singing was also one of the main reasons I made sure to see the OBC back in the 80s.
