I like both Colm and Takeshi Kaga, from the Japanese Red Cast (of course, in Japanse, he's 24653, but that's beside the point).

Colm Wilkinson...totally.

BUT, I also love the Australian cast's Anthony Warlow - he is brilliant, though I have only heard parts.

Over here we use that one too, Zoneace, but we just say 'YER MA'. It adds the 'knacker' effect.

And I don't get the 24653 thing. Was that a joke of which I missed the point or is it actual Japanese numbering?

They changed the number in Japanese. It's ni yon roku go san, which translates as 24653. My guess is its because the "ah" in san is not nearly as rough on the throat as trying to hold the "ee" in ichi, which is 1.

On that note, I also need to throw in that I'm looking forward to Gemignani as Valjean.

Sideshow Bob! On The Simpsons, he's prisoner 24601.

Seriously, both Colm Wilkinson and Randal Keith are great, but Randal's the only one I've seen live (and his singing voice is amazing - his supposed baritone makes you think he won't hit the big notes, but then he does beautifully/powerfully and you're blown away), so I'll go with the latter.

I love Colm Wilkinson but I saw Tim Shew in the part and he was pretty dang amazing.
