Marla Mindelle & Josh Sharp Will Lead A KIDMAN CAROL at New World Stages

Sounds like something for a grimy drag bar. Actually I just got an email today for a new show at the Oasis in San Francisco: SQream a drag parody. I went to their summer 2025 show JurassiQ Park and it was fun. If anyone is in San Francisco the email had a promo code for $15 off tickets; FRIENDSANDFAMILY15

I'm going to miss this Maria Mindelle show as I had November 16 open until about half an hour before I read this post. On Audience Rewards they added tickets for Jenufa at The Met today, so I booked that.

I hope they worked on it since the developmental run. It was cute, but the Australian accent jokes runs out of steam after the first 5 minutes. The premise got me in the door, but I remember looking at my watch during the brief one act production. It wasn't as clever as I hoped. It has tons of promise though. I hope they worked on it.

Funny how people who were hand wringing about NWS emptying out are balking at a show taking a holiday residency in the venue. It could be fun for a lark. We know both performers are proven alt-comedians and I can’t imagine they just left it on the shelf for a year after the first run.

It's a six week run for a silly holiday diversion. Not everything onstage needs to be high art. We don't always need the Godfather- sometimes you just want to watch Airplane.
