My family and I went to see "Little Mermaid" last night. There were eight of us ranging age 5 to 71. We are your average theatergoers and we thought it was amazing!! Beautiful stage, Disney Music and Broadway Magic!!! Amazing!! Faith Prince...Love her!! Norm Lewis...fabulous voice!! Rogelio Douglas, Jr. ... I can't believe this is his debut! He was my favorite!! So entertaining!!

Girl's day in the city - Saturday matinee - what should we see? I'm kind of leaning towards a comedy (2007 hasn't been wonderful) and I haven't seen many shows, so you don't have to worry about listing something popular. I would love to have some Off-Broadway options. Obviously, something we can get tickets to within the next month.

Where would this world be right now if there were no communication gaps? Bottom line: humanity. We may live our lives in different ways, but we are all human beings. Every culture is misunderstood in one way or another. It's an ongoing battle. If this play can make one person stop and think and, perhaps, gain a bit of perspective and compassion, it was worth a whole lot more than the price of admission.

An American pilot crash lands in a small village where the Americans are not looked upon kindly. The villagers are not sure what to do with him. He is a human being, but he is an American. Should they help him? Kill him? Each character has his/her own take on what they should do. There is a language barrier, which leads to miscommunication and misunderstanding.

I saw "The American Pilot" on Saturday, Novemeber 18. (Thanks to all on this board who steered me in the right direction to get tickets!!) I don't know what you guys consider spoilers, but I'm just putting a warning out that there may be some. I'm trying not to go into too much detail so as not to spoil it for anyone.

I'm a fan of Josh Casaubon. He is what led me to this play. It's not something I would normally see, but I'm very glad I did!

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a "professional theater-goer", but I was in the audience and saw what I saw, and this is my opinion.

I thought it was fantastic! It was my first time at Center Stage II - what a great place to see a show! So intimate!

The play was intense, real, intelligent, and at times, funny. I found myself laughing a whole lot more than I thought I would. It shocked you and played with your emotions. The underlying theme was something we can all relate to. Obviously, that which was shown to us was something very real and happening now in this day and age. Reality check!
But the lessons are there. It makes you think how this story can play out in your everyday life. Misunderstandings, communication gaps, seeing one part of the puzzle and not the whole picture, and the devastation that can cause.

The characters were endearing - even the ones you weren't sure you were supposed to like or not.

The actors - All of them captivated me. They were all so different, yet each possessed an intensity that equaled the other. The women in the play, Anjali Bhimani - Evie and Rita Wolf- Sarah, both incredibly beautiful and incredibly strong. Their presence was commanding. I really admired Aaron Staton who played the American Pilot. He had to act from a stationary position, and I thought he did a great job. His voice and facial expressions said everything he needed to without moving about the stage. Ron Domingo played the farmer - Loved him! Waleed Zuaiter, the Captain, and Geoggrey Arend, the Translator, played very well off one another.
Josh's part was small, but he was incredible, in my humble opinion. He was explosive!

The set was very detailed for such a small space. It set the mood and the feeling. That's exactly what it's meant to do.

I loved the experience and would recommend it to everyone. It's not for young children, just in case you were still wondering.
