I can see plenty of great plays in Toronto... was hoping to see the type of small-scale musical that's hard to find outside of NY and some of the regional US theatres.

Hey there folks, I'm coming to NY next week (Tues-Friday) and interested in catching a musical or 2! I'd prefer to see an experimental new work off-Broadway, a workshopped show or even a student production.. My favourite composers are Sondheim, Guettel, LaChiusa, and Gordon, to name a few... Porgy and Bess is on my list for Broadway shows. Can you recommend anything off-Broadway or in the greater NYC area that might tickle my fancy?

Not sure what I was thinking, to be honest!! I know it hadn't ever touched Broadway before, but I was simply thinking of categories like "original score" (when so many songs had been written 2 decades ago!) But I guess it's in the same boat as "original scores" from The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, etc.

Just wondering which category Newsies fits into for the Tonys...

I interpret the SA lyric as this: "Moritz (his shadow/ghost (?) has just left this world- still yearning for acceptance, openness, a true "home" when all he got were fools (parents)! ...and the challenge I find with the "Good Thing Going" line is how quickly the words "You never wanted enough, all right, tough, I don't make that a crime" happen in the vocal line- with commas, but no breath marks. As well as the adjacent T's in "righT, Tough, I..." I'm tying to convey the implied meaning, with...

A couple queries here: "You never wanted enough - Alright, tough, I don't make that a crime" (from Good Thing Going/Merrily) I'm having a hard time syntactically with the word "tough" here. Does it mean: "Alright, it was tough, but I don't make it a crime" ? And the other one: "A shadow passed. A shadow passed. Yearning for the fool it called a home" (from Left Behind/Spring Awakening) Any takers?
