Oh, lay off! Hal is an old man who was approached with this idea by some talented people who wanted to honor him. Stro and Jason Robert Brown aren't doing a Off-Broadway revue for the money.

I wonder what other titles were considered besides "The Prince of Broadway" (oy) ...

Excuse me Broadwaybabytn, but I did not say, "Hal is a old coot looking to make money and I hope this show is a miserable failure." In fact, I'm looking forward to it more than a lot of upcoming shows. But it is surprising to hear that he's doing a retrospective, and I'm only assuming it's for some money.

You know, it's sad-- a lot of people are going to come in thinking this is a Prince revue ("Purple Rain" and all), and they're going to hear "Seven and a half Cents" and "The Road You Didn't Take."

And 'Follies' WILL be well represented, judging from the giant poster hanging in his office, and the inscription he wrote in my first edition book a few years ago, It's his favorite show of his. So nobody worry!

So much of what makes Hal's shows effective are massive coups de theatre--I kinda wonder how this would work...

Why does it take two of them to direct? Surely one or other is capable of doing the job alone...is there some creative reason, or is Hal just more of a consultant? Looking foward to it, though!

Hal's getting a bit up there. I imagine she's doing the heavy lifting. That and they probably enjoy working together.

I would also guess that the co-billing stems from a good deal of Prince's original staging being used and adapted by Stroman, in addition to any original work she might do.

I, for one, look forward to this revue. Hal Prince's track record is so impressive and Susan Stroman is such a fine talent that the show ought to be a success, although to reach the heights of the magnificent JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY should not be anticipated. I saw JRB 4 times and was blown away by it each time. I wonder if they will utilize a continuity narrator like the role Jason Alexander had for JRB.

However, FOSSE disappointed me-- there was too much sameness to it and the production team should either have utilized a narrator, or had the name of the number and what show it was from on electronic placards at each side of the stage, ala GYPSY.
