She should have left out the "Whitney. we will always love you" at the end and just walked off the stage quietly.

It was nice, I'm so glad J-hud was discovered. I hope they do something bigger for Whit,... I mean really where was Brandy? Usher?

I would hazard to guess Brandy was grieving.

Considering calls were made, travel plans booked, performance planned, rehearsal done, and performance completed in less than 24 hours, I thought it was perfect. It was tasteful and very well done. It was not as if they could have planned a 20 minute Michael Jackson style tribute in the time frame they had. Besides, if they did, everyone would be complaining it was excessive.

Jennifer did a wonderful job under the circumstances. She gets better and better. This producer/arranger should redo her commercials for Weight Watchers...

Very nice. Her phrasing was a little distracting, taking a breath after every bar and in some awkward places, but altogether a beautiful production. And nice to see they kept it simple - I love Whitney - but there are legends lost every year and they don't all get giant sendoffs.

Whose pictures were on the screen behind her? Were they other people we lost this year?

That was lovely, especially the way Miss Hudson kept the song simple so that it wouldn't appear that she was competing with Miss Houston's own fireworks with the key change, etc.

Thanks to the OP very much for the link.

Jennifer is so overrated and shoved down everyones throats with those weight loss commercials. Left the house 2 seconds into her singing it.

^ DefGravity777 I have to disagree. There are many R&B singers who are not talented as she is. She has had much better control over her voice as well as the years have gone by. Plus, there have been many 'Idol' contestants who are truly overrated, but she is not one of them. I also briefly talked to her at a book signing, where I also got her autograph, and she is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. I think she deserves every bit of success that she gotten since 'Dreamgirls'. And I think she's a great choice for the Weight Watchers commercials.

It's just that there have been many 'Idol' contestants who were too overpraised while they were on the show and after the show. There are also some female R&B artists today who were not from 'Idol' that are also overrated.

Fantasia Barrino and LaToya London come to mind. Ironic how they were all on the same season. The same season as Diana DeGarmo also. There are artists of all genres that are overrated...(Lady Gaga,Katy Perry...etc)

I agree with BroadwayDevil, for how little of time they had it was elegant and fitting. I read somewhere (I'll try to find the article) that they are 100% giving her a full tribute at next years awards.

I love Jennifer, but to me it just served to highlight just how good Whitney was. Which is appropriate.

How sad that you insert a negative comment about Jennifer Hudson on this thread and I think most people diagree about her being over-rated. I think she is improving each time I hear wonderful gift for singing. Go shove some carbs down your throat and then the commercials want have room to be showed in there...
