Does anyone know what the deal with rush/lottery tickets for 9 to 5 is?

We are going to be in NYC this weekend. We need tickets for a Saturday matinee, and are planning to buy tickets at the TKTS booth. Would it be better for us to go to South St. Seaport on Friday to purchase the tickets, or just go to the Times Sq. booth Saturday morning? Do the booths have different tickets?
