They are probably going to be asked to leave. This is from the myspace page:
Hi everyone,
Many people have been asking if rush tix will be available for the final two performances this Sunday. The answer is yes, we will have a LIMITED number available.
1. No one will be allowed to line up before midnight Saturday night.
2. Only one ticket issued per ID.
Thanks for everything, everyone. Just so you know, once we close on Broadway, we will be getting rid of the Tour Myspace. This Myspace page will become the page for all things Spring Awakening, including the tour and International productions.
We appreciate your continued friendship and eveerything you guys have done to help us spread the word. It will be a sad day on Sunday, but we have much to celebrate. It's been an amazing 2 years filled with magic, joy, and wonder.
Love,
Pun

I'm conflicted. While I feel like those people are crazy, I also would like to praise them for their dedication in the BITTER cold.
I would probably be right there hanging around the theatre until midnight and then making a mad dash to claim a place if I were already back at my apartment.

Anyone as in love with the show as those people won't care where they sit. They'll be just as happy to breathe the air that's in that theatre tomorrow night at 7pm.
However, they may luck out and get front row center rush seats like I did once. If that happened to me, I would cry. Not a joke.

They probably told them to leave.
Get there at midnight. That's when they allow camping out to start. Even then, the line will be building.

Okay, I'm sorry, but it's like TWO degrees outside. In the summer, MAYBE I could see this, but I really can't imagine staying outside OVERNIGHT in this weather. Some of these kids might get SERIOUSLY sick. Why are their parents letting them attempt this? Why are they willing to jeopardize their health for this show rather than buying their tickets in advance and sitting in the mezz for 40$ more? So many questions.
I could certainly be there if I wanted to be (I live in the UWS), but I'll be nice and warm in my apartment!

Posted: 1/17/09 at 9:58pmBecause some people (like myself) were unable to 1) pay that much for a ticket and 2) weren't able to get one in time even if they could afford it. Also, most of the people crazy enough to wait outside are old enough to live on their own. $40 more is kind of a lot to ask for, say, a college student with a minimum wage part-time job that covers food and maybe one show a month. Besides, the last I checked online, there was ONE SEAT left for the night show and that was orchestra row P seat 2 for $136. These are people who have followed this show and love this show and have no other option than to wait in the deathly cold to get their ticket.

Posted: 1/17/09 at 10:04pmI camped out a week ago for GYPSY (was it really a week? Seems like yesterday . . . ) and I thought it was cold then. If it were tonight? I don't think I could do it.

So you're telling me that all these people out there rushing couldn't possibly have saved up to buy tickets in advance, before the show sold out? 40$ more isn't a lot to ask for people who've seen the show 20 times plus, sorry. It's nice to think that these people have only seen it once or twice, and are using their very last pennies to pay for a rush ticket. But let's get real here. Most of the people on that line have seen it more than 10 times, at least. And they would rather freeze to death than buy a ticket in advance and spend a little more? No wonder the show is closing.

Kelly, RELAX.
It's their business.

Yes, minding one's own business is one of the principles that BroadwayWorld was founded on. :-P

Not in a huff. Just wishing people could realize their own stupidity. That, however, is probably a futile goal.

When I first found out it was closing, I went to buy a ticket on Telecharge. They were not released yet. I waited a couple days, rechecked, and there were no tickets left to buy. So I told my mother to just buy me a ticket to the final matinee instead since I would not be living in my apartment at this time. Flash forward to last week, I check online and SUDDENLY tickets are available. But none that are under $122. Now, if I were in my apartment at this time and didn't already have a ticket, I would absolutely be waiting outside right about now because I had no other way of getting a closing night ticket. For me, at least, it's not about the money but that I had no other way of getting that ticket and would do whatever I could to get into the final show. That's how much I love and appreciate this show. I would brave ungodly cold weather to be at the final performance.
I'm not saying everyone out there is like that, BUT you may want to take that into account before you get all worked up about the people waiting. Camping out is the only way to guarantee they'll get a seat. If they wait until morning, the line will have grown and the "limited number of rush seats" will be given to someone else and not them.

I was one of those rushers the other night, and I'd just like to say that no, in fact, I am not crazy. I actually bought full price tickets for the evening show, and decided to rush to get stage seats for the matinee. I didn't do it because I was desperate for tickets to the last show, I did it for the experience. I got there at 6pm the night before, and spent 18 hours in about 20 degree weather (no, it wasn't 2 degrees), sleeping in the snow, and I had the most fun I have had in a long, long time. I am not crazy, I did not risk my health. I wore several layers (2 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, a sweatshirt, a down jacket, 3 scarves, 2 pairs of gloves, a hat, and boots, and I slept under 3 blankets) and we were allowed to go inside in one hour intervals, if we ever needed to warm up, get food, or go to the bathroom. We took care to make sure that we stayed safe, and I'm proud to say I don't even have the sniffles. I did it for the experience, when else would I be able to say I did something like that? When else would cast members bring pancakes and donuts to us at 3am, when else would I be able to wake up to see one of the most talented people on Broadway standing above me, talking to my friends, when else could I say that I, along with 40 other people, belted out Totally F*CKed at the top of our lungs in perfect harmony in front of the Eugene O'Neill Theatre at 1am? It was my way of paying homage to a musical which has affected me in ways that I thought unimaginable. Call me crazy, I guess you just wouldn't understand...
Oh, and I live on my own, I don't need my parents to tell me what's best, I think I can decide that on my own. We're a little too old for you to try and blame our parents for this.

Posted: 1/20/09 at 11:48pmI'd do it in a heartbeat if I lived in New York. But I'm anti-social, so I probably would fail at the whole rush experience.

haha, I'm anti-social too, but when I rushed 13 I listened to all the peoples conversations lol it was pretty entertaining

I did overnight rush for when Skylar Astin, Phoebe Strole, Brian Charles Johnson, Remy Zaken and Lilli Cooper left back in July, and I loved it for the most part. I walked by and saw the rushers for the final show and I applaud them for their dedication because I know overnight rushing can sometimes be a bitch. I don't think they were crazy, just uber dedicated to their show and what they love.
If I didn't have a ticket, I know I would have probably done the same. The only thing that irked me was some of the rushers who ended up on stage were rather distracting because they kept lip syncing the words to the songs.
