Funny/Horrible Mistakes on Live Performances
 Feb 2 2005, 04:14:00 PM
MikeOnBroadway, I was just about to post that same story! I had won lotto seats for that show & the camera almost fell on top of my sister. The guy next to her ended up handing it back to Matt, because my sister was a little bit in shock & I was laughing too hard to move.

Okay, I have a quick story, too. The first time I saw RENT, Colin Hanlon was playing Mark, & when he was singing about April killing herself, instead of saying, "...before slitting her wrists," he said, "...before s

Colin Hanlon as Mark or Roger in RENT (I've seen both, take your pick because he's great as either character). He has this honesty to his acting that you rarely see anymore, & his characters have a lot more depth to them than when I've seen them played by other actors. I could go on & on about him, but I'll be quiet now.

Cabaret.

"Epiphany" - Sweeney Todd
"One Song Glory" - RENT (but only when I'm seeing it live)

I think that's it. *nods*

Good Stagedoor experiences?
 Nov 5 2004, 02:19:15 AM
Since this thread's been revived, I'll share some of my stage-door stories, too.

I've stage-doored at RENT three times, & every single time, everyone I've met (with the exception of two who will remain nameless) has been ridiculously nice, & I've always been impressed with that. One incident, however, sticks out in my head. I saw the show for my first time last November (just over a year ago), & Colin Hanlon was playing Mark, & he just blew me away. I had really wanted to meet him, b

Hey, Anthony. I saw you in "Hedwig & the Angry Inch" in Hartford last summer, & I was blown away by the entire production, so I just want to thank you for the great performance. I'm a little bummed that you're leaving "Little Shop" in December (on my birthday, as luck would have it), since the tour isn't coming my way until mid-March, but I digress.

I actually have an acting-related question for you. Is there a specific method of acting that you prefer (Meisner, Stanislavsky, etc)?

Welcome to the boards Anthony! I know I'm the umpteenth person to say it, but that's oaky. I haven't been participating at all because I have a show this weekend & this is the first time in nearly a week I've been able to sit down for more than ten minutes.

Quick Info:
Name - Lindsay (or Lind-Say to my friends)
Location - From a little cow-town in northern CT, but I go to school at Central Ct. State University in New Britain.
Age - 19
Occupation - Cashier at Big Y Supe

re: Cursed Shows

We did the Scottish play at my college last spring, & on opening night (which was a full moon, incidentally), our lead actor fell six feet through a trap door during one scene & landed flat on his back (he was alright). Later on, part of the set caught fire & the theatre had to be evacuated temporarily. And on the way home, one of our other actors wrapped his car around a tree (he was okay, thank God). Freaky stuff.
re: Encounter Mishaps?

I met Anthony Rapp a couple summer ago, who I'm a pretty big fan of, & when I actually went to talk to him, I couldn't make myself form any words. I just kind of stood there until he nudged me & asked if I wanted anything signed. He looked pretty damn amused. I also forgot to ask for a picture afterwards, & I had my camera. In my hands. *slaps forehead*

And to add onto the camera mishap theme, I met Colin Hanlon (from RENT), who's probably my favorite member of the cast right now, &

re: Most disappointed?

It wasn't on Broadway, but the last time I saw The Full Monty was one of the most disappointing theatre experiences I've had to date. I saw it about a year & a half ago w/my friend when the tour came to Hartford, & we both loved it. We had so much fun at that show, & when it came back through CT back in April, we decided to go again, since it was such a good time the year before. The energy just wasn't there; we ended up with a mediocre performance of a great show. It was a sad situation.
re: Neil Patrick Harris is a serial killer

Yeah, says me. I was impressed, I'm not going to lie.

And that wasn't meant in a snotty/defensive way. I'm just backing up my opinion, 'tis all.

This was one of the creepier episodes, for me. And Neil Patrick Harris was superb, too. His acting is nearly flawless, I have to say. He adds a lot of little things like when he was being interrogated, he kept clenching his teeth. Little details like that. It was a very complete performance.

He needs to do more psychotic roles like this one. Maybe it'll help him leave the whole "Doogie" thing behind. Doogie wouldn't kill women & eat their legs. He just wouldn't.

re: What Shows That Failed Do You Think Deserve A Second Chance?

Taboo. I was all hyped up to see that one, & then it closed before I had a chance to get down to the city. *shakes fist*
re: Have You Ever Missed Out on an Opportunity to See a Show?

I was supposed to see tick, tick...BOOM! in New Jersey (with Colin Hanlon & Sarah Litzsinger) back in the spring (scored complimentary tickets & everything), but my ride cancelled on me the night before & I couldn't find anyone who could bring me. *makes face*

I also had plans with my now-roommate to see both Taboo & The Normal Heart in NYC, but both shows closed before we had a chance to go down.

My mom wanted to see Cabaret before it closed, but she forgot to order tickets, &

re: What Broadway show props/costumes do you own?

I've got two candles from RENT (from "Light My Candle"), tied with some lace from Mimi's costume. They also came with the matches they used for that show.
re: Broadway actors who you wish had solo albums
 Oct 7 2004, 10:21:31 AM
I know everyone else has said it already, but Raul Esparza. I'd buy that album & then a back-up in case I wore the first one out.
re: Cast Recordings you listen to just about everyday
 Oct 2 2004, 11:44:17 AM
Right now, it would have to be Assassins, Rent, & Songs for a New World.
