Sorry if there's already a post on this, but does anybody know appoximately how much a broadway principle earns. I heard that the ensemble is $1100 a week.....just curious really
My friend told me that when Elaine Paige starred in Evita in London 30 yrs ago, she was on £10,000 a WEEK!
tell me more, tell me more...how much dough did he spend?
Equity Scale for ensemble members is around $1400 a week. "Name" actors make more. Example: Julia Roberts is making $35,000 a week in 3 Days of Rain.
The only exception to this rule are the cast of the various non-profit productions. Roundabout operates using off-Broadway contract. Therefore, Harry Connick Jr is making $1100 a week. Updated On: 4/17/06 at 04:04 PM
Equity minimum is $1422. Principals make more depending on experience, name recognition and (sometimes) the size of the role. A tiny handful of stars have made $40-50K/week (and even a bit more), but that is very rare and reserved only for those celebrities whose names sell tickets due to success in film and tv, beyond their stage work.

$1422 is the minimum, but barely anyone gets that, as Equity has so many little required add on pays, like $50 for walking down stairs on stage during a performance.
Roundabout, Lincoln Center and MTC do not use an off-broadway contract for their Broadway venues, but a LORT A contract, which is very different (off-Broadway contracts typically pay about half that $1050, at most, for the really established theatres; most pay much less than even that). There are some 60+ not-for-profit theatres around the country that operate under a LORT A contract (the Goodman, the Taper, Arena, La Jolla etc). There are various restrictions for the three NY LORT theatre companies, one being that after a show has run at one of their theatres for a certain length of time (10 - 12 weeks), if they wish to extend beyond that, then the theatre must adopt the stanard Broadway production contract and begin to pay the actors at least the Equity minimum of $1422.

True, I believe Ring of Fire is using that pay scale.

this will sound stupid, and i dont feel like searching, but are actors paid through rehersals, and how much do you think Charlotte d'Amboise gets paid in Chicago?
I just saw a contract for sale on ebay. It was from 1937, for Victor Moore (the Nathan Lane of his time) to appear for one 15 minute radio performance. $2000.00. In 1937. Two thousand bucks, I just googled, in '37 dollars, that was worth 26,270 dollars today. For 15 minutes work.
