Actually Magruder...I'd say most Sweet Charity fans are smiling.
they should be hanging their heads in shame after Charity's performance Sunday night...although I don't wish a closing on them.
Very talented Cast, Designers and Crew!
But I personally Blame Zaks
Well, OK the Producers hired him.
But the show was way to similar to the Original
well maybe not similar enough
The new cagelles are Amazing Dancers but each of the origianls had a personality (see director comment)
I guess Martin Richards wanted that
He wanted to even put it back in the Palace!
If U don't have a fresh Vision, Why?
Look at LSOH
I hope no one is laughing at the loss of Someone's job
especially in such a risky business as Show
if U wanna laugh at something
laugh at my Spelling
The boy in the cage will do just fine
Albin,
ALL casts should be hanging their heads in shame after Sunday's performances. No, wait....the conductor and director of those sequences should be hanging their heads in shame. That telecast did not favors to ANY of the shows performing, with the exception of Spelling Bee. THAT production is probably thanking their stars that they chose not to perform a full singing/dancing number.
Well,
I hate to see such talent go to waste.
I can't dance and I am always amazed by dancers.
Not that I ever dreamed of becomming a Rockette, but really!

As I understand it, Curtainpulldowner, when the idea of a revival was first conceived, it was going to be a different vision, with a tougher, edgier Albin and some major rewrites. From interviews given around that time, Daniel Davis was given that impression when he signed on. I believe Denis O'Hare was approached to play Albin, but that didn't work out, and Harvey Fierstein nixed the idea of doing any major rewrites to the original book. So, the production was standard issue without the updates.
If it is closing on the 26th, then why does the ticket website still have tickets available for sale past that date?
Never mind.
