They could also go with Anna Kendrick too! Age doesn't matter in acting. What matters is how old you look. Amy Adams could still pass for a 20 year old despite how old she actually is, and the same goes for most of the ladies on this list.

I'd thought of Anna and I think she can definitely sing the part the only problem is a,though she is very pretty I just don't think she's beautiful enough for Belle. I don't want that to sound insulting as she is very talented and attractive and beautiful in an unconventional way, I just imagine Belle to be even more beautiful and fine featured.

Anyone think Leighton Meester could take it? Gorgeous and has a beautiful voice. It's not necessarily a musical voice, but give her a few months of training and she could do it well.

Leighton could be a good option.
God please not Anna Ken drink
Amy Adams ten years ago would have been ideal, as good as she looks she doesn't look twenty.

Hugh Jackman is so incredible and I guarantee you he could pull off a 30 year old Gaston. Or maybe he could even be the Beast? Without a doubt it'd be a loss for him not to be in it. As for Belle, you have to remember, they can't cast a model looking actress for the role. Belle is supposed to be pretty, but have a tomboy-ish and somewhat innocent side to her as well. Everybody always brings us Jennifer Lawrence for every film role, but I honestly wouldn't mind her in the role. As for Anna Kendrick, she will be too musical-ed out to do it and I think there's an abundance of other candidates that'd be perfect in the role.

I am pretty concerned on how they will do the talking furniture in the movie without making it cheesy, obviously it will be CGI but how is it going to look. Also will Beast be CGI and live action hybrid like Johnny Depp in Into the Woods?

I had heard that he was CGI'ed and costumed, unless I am mistaken?

Condon, I beg you! Please keep that trampire away from this movie! The character of Belle never says lines like this.

She also does not have a singing voice like this.

Imagine her singing the famous, "New and a bit alarming" lyrics. It just does not work.
Wow, Disney must be in a hurry, then. Why so soon?

Here is another interview that he did recently.
"Define the difference between a New York crowd and tourist crowd? I’m doing a film version of Beauty and the Beast, and I went to Paris to see a production that Disney’s put up there. And I felt like, ‘Oh my God, this is what it’s like to be a foreigner watching Phantom.’ You know the music, you know the score, you sort of know the lines, but then there’s all this humor happening that you’re not aware of. And it’s not unpleasurable, you’re just not as connected. And that’s the difference–that electricity. The New York audience understands its role in the contract between show and audience. They know they need to be engaged."

And we need a strong and believable actress for the lead female character to be engaged in the film.
ETA: "Oh, please, please, please have Laura Osnes be Belle!"
I'd love for that to happen.

Laura Osnes or Sam Barks would be great, Emma Watson could also be good if she can sing. I think Disney have confidence in Into the Woods and Cinderella performing well so I expect this is why it may have advanced into Pre Production quickly. I expect this will have the same sort of budget as Into the Woods and shoot in Shepperton.

And so would Ariane Rinehart.
And thank goodness for this news I just read. Someone mentioned it on IMDB.

She did excellent work on Anna Karenina! :)
There are an additional 15 film makers on the IMDB Pro Beauty and the Beast (2016) page although I cannot see them due to not being a member, seems Disney is further on this than expected.

Hahahaha this made me laugh! Yeah, Condon should take notes on the recent trailer for Cinderella. That's how you cast and produce a live action remake of a Disney animated film. Granted Cinderella is not out yet, but everything I've seen and read about the film sounds very promising.

Emma Watson and the twilight girl would be awful choices for Belle. Just terrible.

I don't think there's any truth at all to the Kristen rumours that's just a media headline if ever there was.

Watson can act. She's shown so much growth over the years. Look at her performance in 'Perks of Being a Wallflower'. Even though I did not think 'Noah' was a great film, her character and performance were some of the few things I liked in the film. She has also played a bookworm before. If she can sing, then I'd be fine with her playing this role.

I've only ever heard Emma sing backing vocals on a track but those were pretty nice. I would of course love Laura Osnes as Belle but I expect they will keep with the Aurora, Cinderella type casting and get someone around 17-20, as discussed they could also manipulate the ages from the original animation and get someone older in the role of Belle, Beast and Gaston.
I wouldn't mind Gyllenhal for Gaston after dropping out of Into the Woods. Also as discussed Josh Gad SHOULD be Le Fou. The fact they have a set designer and dresser attached seems to be that they are gearing up to shoot pretty soon perhaps even in the new year.

I wouldn't mind Emma Watson. So is this adaptation going to try to adapt off of the animated film? I wonder how closely they'll follow it in regards to costuming, what the castle will look like, etc.

Everyone in the art crew has worked on the first two Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downery Jr. I think that will indicate a sort of direction, all but two people have also worked on Anna Karenina so I would say the palace Ballroom will have that same decadence. I think they should do it more like the new Cinderella movie where they draw influence but keep it familiar. I can't wait to see Belle's gown.
Pierre khan a I the modeller, he worked on the Potter movies so I expect of he did wonders from the Hogwarts castle he will create a fabulous palace for this.
