Are there any plans to release the original VHS tapes on DVD? Is it just tape versions of the play or is it like a series or what? Are they any good?

I think they were released on DVD in the UK, not sure about the US though. They are actually acted out for the screen, not just mere tapings of a production.

And they are extremely entertaining and worth checking out

The 3-DVD set from the UK seems to be out of print now (sooo glad I grabbed it a few years ago) and selling for very high prices. It's not yet appeared on DVD in the US - though perhaps the Broadway revival will spur on a release.

It's terrific - Tom Conti is amazing, and the other five are all excellent.

On amazon.uk the two used sets for sale are 99 pounds and 150 pounds. The new set available is 199 pounds. Too rich for my budget.

Agreed. Wish it were just on Netflix!

Its very TV sit com in its presentation and bares no resemblance to any stage production, even the original West End one.
For serious collectors only but a very strong example of 1970/80s UK TV:

Salene, if you try to actually purchase that product, you'll get a notification that they are out of stock.
