Interesting photos of old time theaters.

Some movie houses too.

Thanks so much senorvoce! I've walked by the Uptown Theatre in Chicago dozens of times and always wondered what it looked like inside nowadays . Just incredible.

It is truly a shame that the beautiful Uptown Theatre is not being used.

Rant, Wickud, Rant, Wickud, Rant! We're not gonna pay Rant! 'Cause everythink is Wickud!

"Leave Walt Disney Theatricals new sparkling production of The Little Mermaid on Broadway alone!!!"

lakezurich will be played by Paul Groves in the BWW musical

Thank God the Uptown is still standing. I was in it a few times & it is eye popping

The initial picture on the link is the Loews Kings in Brooklyn. It was one of the 5 Loews Wonder Theaters. It has sat abandoned & rotting away for 3 decades. It is unbeliveably being renovated. If they can bring it back, it would be astounding. Over 4 000 seats and most of them in the orchestra

Here is a list of the of the more ornate ones lost to progress:

Chicago

Paradise
Granada
United Artists
Belmont
Southtown
Marbro
Nortown

Philadelphia

Mastbaum - Over 4000 seats

NY

Paramount
Capitol
Loews 72 St
Roxy
Triboro
Brooklyn Fox

San Francisco

FOX - An example of civic vandalism of the highest order

Cincinnati

RKO Albee

Minneapolis

Minnesota - Over 4000 seats

Detroit

Michigan Theater (They did save the Fox however)

St Louis

Ambassador Theater - (Again they saved the Fox here)
