He was one of my favorites. Best known as Chief Inspector in the Pink Panther movies, I loved his work at Hammer and him in GAMBIT.He did lots of smaller roles and was just one of the those actors who could do anything. Plus, I LOVED his voice.

I really liked his Phantom but then again, I am a true lover of Hammer films from the 60's and 70's. Herbert was such an underrated actor, IMO.

RIP Mr. Lom. He's wonderful in the original Ealing Studio version of THE LADYKILLERS.

Reg -- that LADYKILLERS just never gets old, does it? And the whole cast is great, even Danny Green as the big fighter has some wonderful moments.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
