Is this as lame as it sort of sounds? Anyone seen it? I'm looking for show for next Wednesday's matinee to replace Dr. Zhivago (closing). I've pretty well covered all Broadway shows and there aren't many options off-Broadway on Wednesday afternoons.
I caught it last week and thought it was pretty funny! Not life-changing, will not leave with you any kind of catharsis, but it's an enjoyable evening. Lots of talk of Italian food leaves you very, very hungry afterwards.
Saw this on a Wednesday matinee and they should probably just stop doing those. The theatre was maybe a third full and one awesome patron even had their phone ring at least FIVE times but thankfully only answered it THREE times.
Audience aside the show is pretty good. I was a little confused by the comedy since it seemed pretty straightforward until it got to the **spoiler** cannibalism aspect which came out of nowhere and continued throughout the play.**end**
I really enjoyed Dan Lauria and Richard Zavaglia but it seemed like Ray Abruzzo was acting in an entirely different play. He was a little too over the top and farcical.
Obviously it's not high art but if you want to have some mindless fun then this was serviceable enough.
