Parade Revival? What would be a good cast?

I feel this phenomenal show needs a second chance at the stage. The subject material wasn't really appealing to audiences but no one can deny that the book, score and cast was phenomenal. I feel like there are so many revivals nowadays, some of which are SO unnecessary. If revived, what would be good casting?

Did you miss the MCP production at Lincoln Center last year? Was that not a chance?
That said, I'm still waiting for the production of Parade with Norbert Leo Butz & Kate Baldwin. And I'd travel anywhere for it.

I could see someone like CSC or Signature doing a limited run revival but I can't imagine this show would ever be successful on Broadway.

Maybe Roundabout Theatre Company should get their hands on it.

I see where you are coming from. It is sad that the actual good musicals barely ever make it. But then we have total crap that runs for years.

Joshua Henry as Jim Conley in the MCP concert was jaw-droppingly incredible.

He was definitely the standout. He stopped the show with both his numbers.
Jeremy was fantastic also. Like, award-worthy fantastic.
I love the show (it's one of my favorites) but it's a tough sell.

Roundabout yes
Broadway - No way this succeeds as a mainstream vehicle no matter how good it is. The subject matter is a tough sell.

^ One could say the same thing about Fun Home, Next to Normal, or hell, even Hamilton.

But it is pretty hard to sell people who want to go to the theater to have a good time on a musical about the murder of a little girl.

Posted: 11/9/15 at 4:32pmI think that if they were to revive it they should use a few people from MCP production that was done last year. Mainly, Joshua Henry as Jim and Jeremy Jordan as Leo. I think they were both absolutely amazing! Joshua's "Blues: Feel the Rain Fall" was stunning. Jeremy's transformation in "Come Up to My Office"...I was pretty floored. I thought Charlie Franklin was pretty good, too. As for Lucille...I'm not sure.

The production four years ago at Ford's Theatre was amazing. Easily made the list of top five shows/productions I've ever seen. Euan Morton was perfect casting for Leo Frank, Jenny Fellner was a heartbreaking Lucille. The rest of the cast was great. But the direction - unbelievable.
I wish this production had moved to Broadway.

"no one can deny that the book, score and cast was phenomenal."
I can deny it, and do deny it, most vehemently.
And so, I suspect, would the bored/snoozing members of the audience at the performance I attended.

"I highly doubt a musical about a girl that was murdered and the tril of the wrongly accused man was boring. Maybe unsettling but not boring. Plus the book and the score won a Tony, so it has been given merit.

Jesse Eisenberg said in an interview that Leo is his dream role- he almost played it in the recent concert!
