Five years ago, Pete and Lily were tied to a tree in front of a foreclosed house in North Carolina.
Today, they delight audiences on Broadway and off.
Their lives were transformed by famed animal trainer William Berloni.
I had the awesome honor of speaking with Mr. Berloni -- truly a legend, and a great person! Check out my story, please! Has anyone seen a show with one of his furry friends (they include Sandy from the original production of "Annie"?
Back in the late 1970s during the original run of ANNIE at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre), I was a ballsy pre-teen who used to roam around the theatre district in the afternoons and walk into all the stage doors and visit the backstage areas of all the shows on Broadway. Bill Berloni was always at the Alvin Theatre early and let me visit with him and Sandy and the menagerie of dogs he always had with him. God bless him for his hospitality and patience and entertaining this THEN obnoxious theatre punk.
That's awesome! Speaking to him, it was clear what a genuinely nice person he is (in addition to being great at what he does), and that just further proves it. Great memories!
