Forgot about this gem. Melba Moore stopping the show and winning a Tony Award in "Purlie!" Her notes toward the end are off the chart. This is her live performance from the Tonys that year.

I don't think it's on the recordings, but Maggie sings a G#5 in A CHORUS LINE during the Montage on "life is an ashtray" after the "never get to wear nice clothes" part. You can hear, again, Mara Davi do it flawlessly on *that site*

"Life is an ashtray!" is on the original recording! you can hear it through the cacophony, it's one of my favorites.
