Ticket Fees Question

The best way to avoid those ridiculous ticket fees online is by going directly to the ticketing source. 

Is this right? So if you call the box office you're not saving any money either, right? There are still fees? Sorry, kind of stupid question =/

Calling the box office may still incur fees.  Depends on the box office and owner of the theater.  The minimal fees you may incur is going in person to the box office.  You may still have a fee, but it would be no where the amount if you purchased the ticket online.

What are you talking about? First, you can't buy tickets from the box office over the phone, you have to go in-person. Second, there is no fee other than the nonsensical restoration fee, but that's built into the ticket price, so it's not an added cost unlike the online fees.

The OP did not specify what kind of ticket she was buying.  There are many venues in my city that you can still purchase tickets over the phone.  Our Broadway series is one of them.  There are still added on fees at many  venues, if purchasing in person. I recently purchased a ticket in person.  The online Ticketmaster fee for this show was $15.  The in person fee was $4.  The $4 was not for a restoration fee.  As I stated earlier it depends on the venue and who owns/manages it, what additional fees you will pay.

UGH I have GOT to be more specific in my posts...ugh I'm sorry! This is in reference to Broadway show tickets. If I want to buy two tickets, the best way to avoid ticket fees is to go directly to the box office, correct?

Yes, to avoiding most fees by purchasing in person.  I didn't have a problem with your post.  I was countering the other poster who stated you can't purchase tickets over the phone with a theater box office.  Generalization.

And discount codes cannot be used in person at the Broadway box office only Telecharge offers TM website?

I have never had a problem using discount codes in person at the box office.

Many discount offers from sources like BroadwayBox, Playbill, and TheaterMania can be obtained from the box office simply by presenting the corresponding code.

Discount codes definitely work at the box office.

 

And there have been a couple  "Fee Free Fridays" or similar deals where buying online (or on the phone, thru Ticketmaster or Telecharge) has been doable without their fees.
