Random question but does anyone know if when Wicked was in previews on Broadway they had the same schedule they do now? So between October 8 2003 and October 29 2003 it was Tuesday through Sunday with 2 shows on a Wednesday and Saturday?

So because the first preview on the Tuesday evening was cancelled does that mean Wicked's first ever preview was a 2PM matinee?

I don't think their preview schedule was a full eight shows a week. Most shows in previews, especially the first week of previews, will not a Wednesday matinee in order to have rehearsal time during the day, especially if the first preview is a Tuesday night (which the originally scheduled first preview was).

With the cancelled October 7th first preview the show ended up doing six performances that first week, so I assume that there was never a Wednesday matinee on the schedule for that week. They added a Tuesday night performance the second week to make up for the cancelled performance, so there were eight shows that week (noting that originally they had probably planned on October 14th being a full rehearsal day). The third week of previews they only had seven performances, so I assume that the Wednesday matinee was the one never scheduled to allow for rehearsal time. The fourth week was a full eight show week, but with previews on Tuesday and Wednesday and opening night on Thursday.
