i meet lauren becall a few years ago after waiting in the wings, she signed autographs but didnt seem to happy, plus there was only three poeple besides me waiting.

lady g, boy george didnt come out after last nights show. but its been baffling me how he got to the cast party at barrymore's across the street. the was no way he was coming out the stagedoor. it took each cast member at least 45 mintues to get from the stage to barrymore's, which is right down the street.

PATTI LUPONE has to be one of the worst Ive encountered. It was right after one of the last performances and everyone was as nice as could be (especially Katie Finneran and Peter Gallagher.) Faith Prince and Richard Easton at least went through another door so they didnt have to sign. Im fine with that because I understand that they are tired after a long performance. Well while everyone else is signing away, Patti Lupone comes out the same door everyone else did, cover her face and just wave her hands like "No dont look at me, no autographs." And then she hops in a limo. Why couldnt she have gone through the other entrance? She just seems like the ultimate diva there is.

I am absolutely aghast that Sam Shepard wasn't nice to our sweet, endearing Corine. Does she mean Sam Shepard the playwright/actor? The same man who invited me to join him for a brew when I praised A FOOL FOR LOVE? He was so sensitive and convivial. Perhaps Corine did something rude to him and he responded in a like manner. Remember Corine, I warned that bitch slapping wasn't an effective way to ingratiate yourself with celebrities. Curb your instincts!

"PATTI LUPONE has to be one of the worst Ive encountered"

This is a great example of what I was saying. I have met patti a few times and have found her to be very pleasant and accomodating to her fans. However, she can come off as mean and rude when she is trying to rush through a crowd of fans to get somewhere. I remeber one night after a concert in NYC she rushed by the crowd at the stage door. She didn't stop for autographs and didn't acknowledge anyone. She was rushing home because she had a sick child waiting for her. She had done the concert so as not to disappointher fans and had tried to slip by them unnoticed so as not to make them feel bad that she wasn't stopping to sign autographs. She just deperately wanted to get home as quickly as possible. Many in the crowd complained that she was a B##ch. That's unfair.

Another example of misunderstood behaviour is Carol Channing. As much as possible she avoids coming out of the theater into crowds of people and everyone thinks it's becasue she doesn't want to greet fans. The truth is the woman has extremely bad eyesight and has particular trouble seeing at night. The idea of walking into a crowd and possibly being seperated from her escort, whose arm she clings to for dear life, is frightening. Think about it. An elderly woman who is small and thin and can't see where she's going is suddenly seperated from the person who is leading her. She could fall and get hurt very easily. She's very aware of this because she has had some minor accidents on stage.

So, just keep in mind that there are circumstances under which someone just cannot stop and talk to you. You don't alway know the whole story. When someon leaves a stage door smiling and waiving but quickly moving on, it's most likely that they can't stop but are trying in the only way they can at that moment to acknowledge their fans.

Dolly,
Grow up will you. I met Sam years ago and i saw him at a party.
I went over to him to tell him how much i admired Curse of the Starving Class and to tell him i was in it in my acting class.
He was just not friendly. It was just a let down.
I still adore his work but it changed the enthusiasm shall we say. My boyfriend thought he was very rude.
I have met thousands of actors, musical directors etc every single one has been friendly except Sam. Updated On: 2/10/04 at 08:35 AM

Betty Buckley was very nice to me... but I was visiting her in her dressing room, and it was a special circumstance.

There is an actor that was in a cast with her who claims that she isn't the greatest to work with... but I don't know. Talent deserves respect. Just because you did a 'Law and Order' or two doesn't make you a Tony winner... and deserving of the same "perks".

She demands a high level out of her co-stars, but was endlessly giving as a teacher, learned so much from her.
