And while I'm up on my soapbox, I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one laughing my ass off at the amazing Jan Maxwell in Chitty. Yeah, it's a corny show. But she milks a small role for everything and had me near tears with her hilarious bits. I'd never even heard of her before seeing the show. With such an amazing cast who'd have guessed she'd be such a standout. Marc was very cute / funny as the Baron. And Raul... well, it's not just his acting skills I admire.
Still, I'd give the Tony to Sara Ramirez, who deserves the hype for stealing the show out from all the men, or Joanna Gleason, who deserves infinite prizes for just being so Joanna Gleason like...
Maybe a silly question, but was RECKLESS not expected to get any nominations? I was assuming Mary-Louise Parker would have been nominated. Then again, I didn't have a chance to view this production on stage... but Brantley's review, which I just re-read, seemed positive enough.
Such interesting nominations. The Tony noms may be quite surprising.
Sarah Uriarte-Berry = Goddess. Light In The Piazza ... so glad for it, and Dessa Rose.
Where's Erin Dilly? Cheyenne Jackson? Or Jenn Gambatese? Not that I particularly enjoyed "All Shook Up" but the two were wonderful. Also, for best orchestrations... it gave me chills.
Sara Ramirez was hardly memorable in Spamalot.
Applegate? Sweet Charity? Hell is freezing over. At least Wayne Cliento was not nominated for choreography like in the OCC's.
Hmmm. With all due respect, that statement would have been a heckuva lot more accurate had it been preceded by "In my opinion..." Obviously a great many people found her "memorable" indeed, even if you didn't.
With like No Rules, these noms are all over the place Maybe Sara's noms got mixed in both categories? but it leaves the Fab Jan Maxwell with award in hand. sigh...
