Tony Award Predictions Website
 Mar 29 2008, 04:02:20 PM
I put together my own website with predictions and analysis for this years Tony Awards. I'm still working on the analysis for each category, but my predictions won't likely change very drastically! Please do let me know what you think (email: Tonyawardshaven@gmail.com)

New "Gypsy" very underwhelming
 Mar 16 2008, 12:42:37 AM
Just returned from the Sat. evening performance of "Gypsy". Let me preface all of this by saying I love the musical "Gypsy" and I love Patti LuPone. However, I do not love Patti Lupone IN "Gypsy". The production itself was all over the place and while it certainly had its good moments, for most of the show I was simply praying for the show to end quickly. For me, one of the biggest problems with this production was that all of the tactics that comprised Herbie and Rose's relationship seemed to b

re: A Farewell to Drowsy: As We Stumble Along

Well, I was there too tonight. Last row of the mezz this evening, but I still enjoyed myself like I have twice before. There were rounds of applause like crazy and it felt kind of like being at a rock concert. Beth Leavel was on fire tonight and held her last "a" in "along" in her normal "As We Stumble Along" for such a long time . She really did start to lose it during the final minute of the show and couldn't bring herself to sing some of the final bars because she was so moved. Bob Saget was

Opening Night Party at NYSAF (Kevin Spacey Sighting)
 Jul 3 2007, 07:11:24 PM
Finally posting about my experience up at NYSAF this past weekend. Caught the Friday performance of "R-E-S-P-E-C-T", which had amazing music and some great performances especially Ebony Jo-Ann, Kingsley Leggs, and Brennan Leath. The vocals were incredible, and the audience had a great time. Saw Richard Frankel there, so I hope it finds a life outside of Vassar's Powerhouse Season. After the show, I went to the opening night party and met a bunch of the staff and actors there. Saw Kevin Spacey ha

Legally Blonde Tonight (AKA LBB Loses Her Wig)
 May 24 2007, 11:54:29 PM
Just got back from this evening's performance of "Legally Blonde". The show itself is pure fun and the score might be bubblegummy but still has some decent tunes. Jerry Mitchell ensures there is never a dull momemnt and Laura Bell Bundy proves her status as a leading lady.

Tonights show was a great example of why people enjoy theater: it is live and anything can happen. Before they broke into "Bend and Snap", LBB bent to show Orfeh (Paulette) the move and she snapped so forcefully that

Inherit the Wind OnStage Dress Code?

Sitting on stage at "Inherit" today. Do we need to dress in period clothes? Can we just wear normal things?

Greatly appreciate responses ASAP!

Will David Hyde-Pierce Host the Tony's?
 Mar 31 2007, 09:06:59 PM
Given that David Hyde-Pierce is now officially a Broadway leading man, does anyone else think he'd make a great Tony host? He did host the Primetime Emmy's a few years back and I think he's the biggest name on Broadway right now who would make a decent host. I have a feeling he'd accept too for the same reason Hugh Jackman did when Boy From Oz was up for Tonys. If "Curtains" isn't nominated for Best Musical which, although I loved it, is a distinct possibility, DHP and company would still get to

"The Mercy Seat" Character Descriptions
 Oct 30 2006, 12:17:34 PM
I'm trying to put together brief descriptions of the characters in Neil LaBute's "The Mercy Seat" for auditons being held tonight for an upcoming collegiate production. I've read the play over five times now, and I'm just struggling to put into words what the characters are precisely. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
