My boyfriend and I are arriving in NYC midday Monday.

We wanna hit Avenue Q our first night there, but don't wanna pay 105 bucks for a ticket in advance.

Would TKTS or Rush be available at like 4 PM still?

or should I just plunk down the money?

No rush. Only lotto, which is really hard to win. I would look for a discount.

Use one of those you will get better seats for $6 more than TKTS. Plus it saves the line waiting time which alone is worth $6.

I'm not sure if Mondays are more crowded for the lottery or not, but it might be on tkts. it wouldn't hurt to try the lottery and then walk over to tkts if you lose.

That would have been perfect...

but there's always an exclusion..

excluded 12/18/06-12/31/06...

We wanna go the 18th...

How hard is the lotto to win? Especially on a Monday night?? ((really don't know how this works)

Any given night there are at least 25 people there. And they only do 12 seats, which means 6 winners. It is a hard lotto to win, and if you lose dont count and Q being up at TKTS 2 hours till curtain.

I seem to remember there being to TKTS booths in NYC...one in Times Square and one in ?Seaport? and there was no line at Seaport...

Would it be wise to shoot on down there right when we get into town to pick up tix?

Or shoot for the lottery and if it doesn't work just buy the tix?

Ideas...help...

Appreciating all the input you guys are giving.

any day that you go, the lottery is pretty tough to win, i tried last night for the 4th time and i still havent won, so we saw high fidelity instead. their lotto was much easier. ive never done tkts, i almost always do rush or lotto for shows, but you might be better off using the discount codes, it will save you alot of time.

Hard to say, since personally the South Street TKTS booth confuses me with their times and days that you can purchase for. Plus its out the way from times square. All I can say is if you do the lotto and win, your lucky. Maybe just go right to TKTS when it opens and just get the tickets that way, rather than waiting.

So...there's not usually a long line when the Times Square booth opens up?

I may be able to hit it right when it opens at 3PM...

my flight lands at JFK at 12...travel time to hotel and getting situated..

I should have no problem..

There is plenty of line. People start to gather around 12. Goes quickly now, but no guarentee that Q will be up by the time you get up to the window. Worth a shot if nothing else.

Why not? It's been up there before.

I never see a line on Mondays.

I'd say avoid all of the hassle and buy the rear mezz seats for $56. The Golden is such a small theater that any seat is a good one. I was in the very last row and saw and heard everything perfectly. Have a great trip!

I agree with richs52. It would save you alot of running around. And yes the theater is pretty small, so the back or close to the back row shouldn't be abd at all. It's definately a show you must see! Good luck!
